This song was heavily influenced by the content learned in class throughout the semester. The questions of what creates our identity, and how fluid our identity can be deeply fascinate me. There is an exchange between our personal/role identities and the contexts that we find ourselves in. I reflected on these themes in my own life. Inspired by the openness and vulnerability shown in our own class, I wanted to create something honest and raw. Instead of focusing on big, life changing moments, I intended for the song to be full of small moments that have had an impact on how I navigate my identity. Much of that has evolved over time, but some of those mechanisms, Ive come to realize, are the same.
