We want to wish all of you a very happy new year. We are starting 2024 with a podcast by Joachim Spieth.

Joachim has been active since the nineties, when he started as a producer with releases on the Cologne-based Kompakt. Back then, he already showed signs of his modern-day deep and atmospheric sound, but this came to light from 2007. That year, Joachim founded his label Affin. Today, Affin's main focus is on hypnotic techno and ambient.

The recording contains both of these well-connected genres and shows Spieth's ability to create and release tension through music. Don't hesitate to check out the podcast to experience the tension yourself.

Out of Detroit, Techno and then New Beat in Belgium and just before Trance, there was a very hedonist and pure european rave culture. The breakbeats (early hardcore) were also played at Rave parties were in between 1988 - 1995 and raves back then often had 4-5 rooms with very eclectic music that ranged from acid house to trance, techno, house, breaks and ambient. By 1995, Oldschool Raves ended and movies like Trainspotting were released. Raves combined New Beat, Acid House and early Techno like the seminal track Q from Mental cube (aka FSOL). A new year, a new chapter for EMC! We start 2024 with a new graphic design and with our first guest for the Atmospheres playlist! Welcome to Lateral Movement!

Originally from Portugal, Ricardo aka Lateral Movement moved to the UK in the nineties for studying. Diving right into the local music culture, effervescent as ever, he meandered effortlessly through genres, taking him deeper into the arts whilst aiding his curiosity, from free jazz to indietronica. Returning to Portugal, Ricardo became a strong supporter of the alternative scenes, embarking on a different kind of journey and took upon himself the responsibility of discovering new music and sharing it with the community. To this day deep techno and its many guises are his passion, especially the deeper and hypnotic realms, where ambience and atmosphere play the main role.

We are starting 2024, with Our Recordings, a new mixes series curated by On Board Music, inviting our friends, affiliate artists and latest discoveries on the dancefloor. For this very first episode, we are hosting a recording from Barcelona-based and On Board affiliate producer, Mostra resident DJ, ABSIS. 
His DJ Sets are pure master classes, with a very flawless way of mixing records, impeccable transitions and selections!
This session was recorded at Human in Barcelona last September for our 9 years anniversary, ABSIS was opening the night, slowly building the perfect ton right before Polygonia live set.

Bassiani/Horoom의 레지던트 아티스트 HVL은, 2009년 듀오 Okinawa Lifestyle의 멤버로 처음 주목받기 시작한 이후 조지아의 트빌리시 클럽 씬을 중심으로 번성하는 테크노 무브먼트의 선두에 서 있다. 2013년 솔로 활동을 시작한 이후 HVL은 다양한 장르와 스타일을 탐구해왔고, Bassiani Records, Rough House Rosie, Tabernacle Records, Organic Analogue와 같은 언더그라운드 전초기지에서 발매된 그의 솔로 앨범들은 라이브 공연과 DJ 세트를 통해 만들어진 그의 독특한 취향을 담아내고 있다.

First coming to attention as a member of Okinawa Lifestyle duo in 2009, Bassiani/Horoom resident Gigi Jikia a.k.a HVL has become a leading voice of thriving techno movement centered around Tbilisi club scene. Since starting solo career in 2013, HVL was busy exploring more diverse range of genres and styles. His solo releases which have appeared on underground outposts like Bassiani Records, Rough House Rosie, Tabernacle Records and Organic Analogue, have testified to taste that’s also reflected in his Live performances and DJ sets.
The outstanding debut Ostati LP on Organic Analogue Records (2018), intended as a manuscript of the sound of Tbilisi, is a seductive update on the established HVL’s dynamics, centered on outboard house and techno with a noticeably understated mood.
As HVL’s reputation as a solo artist grows, so does his status as a selector and DJ. Jikia has taken his skillfully crafted Live shows and DJ sets to new heights in 2018, hitting up some of the best dancefloors in the world from Berghain and Hï Ibiza to infamous Berlin Atonal.

Van Morph is a restless spirit that has been around since the early 90's as a clubber but also as a listener. In the mid 90's his love for electronic music brought him close to the desire to learn the art of DJing. With this initiation, he officially began his journey in the field of the music industry . He is Co-Owner / Founder of the record Labels Khoros Records, Eurynome Records and Chronos Records, continues to this day to share his musical concerns since music for him is a way of life, a choice that has determined to this day his course so far. His style changes and reshapes from time to time and that does not make him boring.
His music is characterized by dancing bass lines and psychedelic accompaniments while other times his dub mood with various percussions and melodies show the other side of him.

It's such a privilege to welcome one of my favorite producers to the series, Amsterdam's Human Space Machine, whose brilliant productions are a constant source of inspiration and a presence in so many of my favorite dancefloor memories. After belonging to the Move and Skyzoo collectives in the mid-90s, in 2000 he became part of the team of residents of Le Club and the organization of the Observatori Festival.
In 2010 he starts Black Label, a monthly party at Miniclub, where for 5 years he made known his more House side. After this, it is worth mentioning his residence in Jerusalem Club, Caravaca (Proper Club) and the organization and residence of the Taiga parties in Madrid, where he bet on contemporary techno.

At the moment he is still interested in the most current musical currents of electronic music, from ambient to techno, through electro, halftime and D&B. Always betting on vinyl as a format and deep productions that keep the dub as a common denominator.

Descend into the hidden realms with Fran Campos's masterclass mix, a teaser for his set at Barcelona's Mostra Festival.
