01 Swing Into Action

Late-night while still being quarantined, I decided I was in the mood to make a mini-mix, and here's what I had in mind. It's not perfect, but I want to recollect my thoughts and memories here.

01 Quarantine

Currently working on doing June Summer Boot Camp exercises with Yas Collective (https://www.instagram.com/yasmusiccollective/) where we challenge ourselves with creating a set a week. I didn't really have an idea as to what angle should I approach this until I read about Kate Bush and Stranger Things.  

I haven't seen the new season of Stranger Things, but I keep hearing about this one blowing up, so I decided to listen to it. I listened to Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill, and I decided why not make a set from it? With that being said my set is pretty groovy with a touch of 80's feel.

02 Running Up That Hill Set Mix

Currently working on doing June Summer Boot Camp exercises with Yas Collective (www.instagram.com/yasmusiccollective/) where we challenge ourselves with creating a set a week.  This time I wanted to do something with the concept of cinema, or like a feeling like you were watching a movie. It all started with Uhm Jung Hwa- Ending Credit, and I made a set from there. Usually I'm a happy person, and not like to show too much emotion, but wanted to make myself vulnerable, and mix my feelings of saying goodbye into a mix.

Kind of think of this as a sequel to 02: Running Up That Hill, but add more synth and add a bit more soul.

Justin Cho Nguyen, but spins by the moniker ChoBeatz (Pronounced ‘ch oh- beetz’). DJ Chobeatz is currently based in Los Angeles, but can travel for work. He describes his music taste as fluid, and he continues to learn and incorporate new genres of music, so his taste is always changing and evolving. to understand ChoBeatz, it’s easier to understand his background. 


ChoBeatz is a Korean/American that was raised in the metro Atlanta area from the 90’s to the 2010’s then moved to California in 2013. He mixes his influences of Rap and R&B to Pop and EDM. Add in some cultural influences such as Funk and J-Pop/K-Pop with a hint of soul, and that’s one way to describe ChoBeatz’s style in music. DJ ChoBeatz can truly take anyone on a musical journey.
