SEPTEMBER 13, 2024—Today, the freshly minted StrataSonic Records officially unveils itself with a brand new release from Parisian house music mastermind and Apollonia ringleader Dan Ghenacia. Ghenacia’s three-track Rouge ou Noir EP is out now. 

The title track opens up with looped, funky guitar riffs and neon synths, which wind their way through dusty, dynamic drums. “Chilly” bustles with a blend of louche rhythms and rugged synth arps that dart about the mix—it also gets a low-slung, dubbed-out mix to round out the release. Ghenacia’s knowledge of house music, which he’s accumulated over the last 25-plus years DJing, hosting essential parties, and running vital labels, is crystal clear on this fantastic new solo EP. "Everything unfolded at a dizzying pace,” says Dan Ghenacia on creating the new EP. “Five days in a dream studio in Los Angeles led to Rouge ou Noir, a surreal and psychedelic experience with funky vibes. StrataSonic, this young label, is showing boundless creativity with its team to maximize the release's impact."

Nestled in a private enclave in Los Angeles, StrataSonic's home is the state-of-the-art recording studios helmed by the label’s in-house producers and has become the music industry's best-kept secret. With an unparalleled collection of vintage gear and deep technology, this sonic sanctuary serves as a platform for both emerging and seasoned artists.

StrataSonic was created to empower artists and explore the depths of their musical expression free from the confines of genre. From uptempo house to tribal to ambient, the label celebrates experimentation, champions artistic freedom, and embraces the beauty of non-conformity. Each release on the label will be available on vinyl and be accompanied by a music video. StrataSonic will also create bespoke merch lines alongside releases and host curated playlists by friends and family of the label, such as acclaimed DJ turned photographer Bill Patrick.

The team behind StrataSonic consists of an international group of music veterans with deep roots in Los Angeles to serve as a sanctuary for artists within the broader electronic music landscape. Founder of BPM Festival, Craig Pettigrew, will lead as the label’s CEO, with producer/DJs Maher Daniel and Matt Tolfrey spearheading the Label Manager position. Mack Sennett Studios and Original Creative Agency owner Jesse Rogg has taken the role of the label’s Creative Director, with Matt Ossentjuk of Gari Safari working alongside Rogg as the Associate Creative Director. 


ABOUT DAN GHENACIA
Dan Ghenacia has toured the globe over three decades, solo and as part of Apollonia, the supergroup that epitomizes the sound and community of underground house music. His story began in his early 20s when, after spending a year soaking up West Coast house music and psychedelia in San Diego, he opened his store, Traffic Records, in Paris. This allowed him to import and show off sounds he discovered in California, and he soon started DJing all over Paris. He became an early Circoloco resident at DC10 in 2004 and still, to this day, spends his summers living in Ibiza. This year, he’s performed all-night-long Apollonia sets at fabric in London and at Jamie Jones’ opening Paradise party at Amnesia in Ibiza.

The words” I’ll never leave you darling” echo over and over in my head and then the extra bits come in and say “take your time, don’t be afraid”. With EYX019 Early Reflex is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of "Sync Rite," the latest EP from visionary electronic music artist Ziyiz. "Sync Rite" features three groundbreaking tracks that continue Ziyiz's exploration of sound and surreal world-building.

Ziyiz, known for their cutting-edge sonics and captivating live performances, has previously released music through labels such as Kindergarten, Failed Units, and Line:156. With "Sync Rite," Ziyiz continues to push theenvelope, delivering a collection of tracks that challenge the conventions of electronic music.

The concept behind "Sync Rite" was inspired by a unique ritual observed by Ziyiz, where malfunctioning robots consumed a material known as Syndrenal to enhance synchronization and efficiency. This theme of synchronization and transformation is woven throughout the EP, offering listeners a sonic experience that is both otherworldly and deeply immersive.

The journey begins with Ashen Magnets, a tribal-infused synth dance track is a rhythmic journey that combines pulsating beats with haunting melodies, creating a hypnotic atmosphere that transports listeners to a different dimension.
Fired Water Twitches follows next, an electro-driven masterpiece which showcases Ziyiz's ability to blend robotic rhythms with electrifying synth lines, resulting in a high-energy dancefloor anthem.
The EP closes with Syndrenal a futuristic, hyper-fueled jersey club track, which pushes the boundaries of genre with its rapid-fire beats and innovative soundscapes.

Ziyiz said:
“██, located inside a cave within the ███████ forest. The ██ guides malfunctioning robots through a synchronization rite involving a liquid material, Syndrenal. Maintaining a distance is advised, due to the heat produced during the rite. Syndrenal is synthesized inside a crystalline cauldron sat atop spinning Ashen
Magnets, which appears to generate huge quantities of hot blue energy. The ██ body seems composed of a heat resistant metallic alloy, even so their lower torso has become molten and fused to the ground, presumably due to the long exposure of heat created by the Ashen Magnets. Their many limbs engage in constant movement, gathering materials from around the cave, which they place within the crystalline cauldron where Fired Water Twitches. Ziyiz observed the Sync Rite, documenting malfunctioning robots gathering around the entity. Once consumption of the Syndrenal has taken place they demonstrate synchronized movements and evident improved operational efficiency. The process appears to Sync and align malfunctioning robots, correcting errors in their programming.
The audio files presented were obtained via data transfer from post-Syndrenal Sync Rite robots.”

This release is a true ode to breakbeat and experimentation at its best! The release is enriched with unique remixes from German American producer UrbnMowgli, who added his energy and electrified the main track. And Englishman Tom Vernon reinterpreted the original, immersing it in the atmosphere of LO FI waves.
Each of them brought their own innovative sound to create something truly unforgettable.
