Stetsasonic - People In The Neighborhood 91 - 94 EP

Hip hop, and you don't stop: this Carhartt WIP radio show brings you Chopped Herring Records, founded in 2001 in Manchester by collector, rare vinyl eBay merchant, and DJ Bob Lipitch aka Pro Celebrity Golf aka Chubby Grooves. Since the beginning his label releases limited edition hip hop vinyl - never released before recordings from back in the day and new music from today's artists - always dope and fresh. The „Three Sinister Syllables“ LP by the artists Pro Celebrity Golf and Jay Glaze from 2004 is probably the record, that put the UK label on the global hip hop map. Others artists from their big roster include old and current stars like Action Bronson, Masta Ace or Stetsasonic, as well as new names like Epidemic from South Florida, Timeless Truth from NYC or US duo OG Aborigines amongst many others. Many of them are included in our Carhartt WIP Chopped Herring Records radio Show that was ‪mixed by Mr Sonny James & Matthew Law of the‪ "Illvibe Collective" out of Philadelphia.

GRANDGOOD.COM: (http://grnd.gd/2CmEilU) This collection of music focuses on the independent voice in hip-hop, where the tension of selling records to mass markets tends to be less pronounced. This doesn't exclusively mean unsigned and you'll note some music from career musicians. But even with long term artists the songs we selected felt less encumbered. Because of my heavy hand you'll also have to deal with an east coast bias but yo that ain't necessarily a bad thing all the time, is it?

Thanks to <a href="http://www.djsheep.com/">DMC champion DJ Sheep</a> you can listen to the <a href="https://soundcloud.com/grandgood/grandgoodcom-standout-rap-2017-mixed-by-dj-sheep/">professionally mixed version</a> featuring 40 or so of the 55 tracks listed below, recorded live in one take on 2 turntables and a mixer at the Bulletproof Crates lab in Brisbane, Australia on New Years Day 2018. Goes without saying but special thanks to the artists, we appreciate what you do. The Hip-Hop community suffered <a href="http://grandgood.com/category/qepd/rip/">great loss in 2017</a> and not enough can be said about the lost talent. At the same time, enthusiasm from young heads and old heads alike keeps it going. Lest we forget, many founding artists, like Coke La Rock pictured above, <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/155302481@N07/albums/72157664169668918/with/24536074467/">continue to walk among us</a>.  So again, big up to all the artists but also the rest of the community of listeners, show promoters, podcasters, writers....

Old skool bboy into mad flavaz of musik.   I've been dancing since 1984' and have been collecting musik since I was a young buck.  Been there, done that! Started in 2001 by then-Manchester-based DJ Chubby Grooves aka Pro Celebrity Golf. Only 1 release a year for the first 3 years of the label's existence culminated in 2004 with the epic cut-n-paste mix Three Sinister Syllables. Since then label owner and artist Pro Celebrity Golf has been acting in more of an A&R capacity excavating lost 90's Hip Hop material [as well as brand new DOPENESS] and releasing it for the first time on vinyl in limited quantities.
