The Seoul-born, Tokyo-based producer and sound artist releases her debut album, Pretty Poison, with Chow Down Records on 9th October 2020. Keen ears may have caught what little she’s shared with the world for seconds at a time in the setlists of left-field tastemakers FaltyDL, Yamaneko, and Murlo. Now, Sundaysaurus prepares to lift the hush with a full-length record announcing a singular new talent.

The first-time listener is not so much invited into Sundaysaurus’ world as dropped into its innermost depths with no route back. Over Pretty Poison’s nine tracks, the producer brings the sound and spirit of personal club touchstones – rave, hardcore, grime, Hip-Hop, juke – into an aural landscape both wholly new and wholly hers. These dancefloor tropes writhe and breathe to the asymmetric pulse of her grid-defying samplework and sudden shifts in song structure.

Making music in solitary moments either side of a day job at the heart of the J-Pop industry, Sundaysaurus lives a life steeped in sound, and to listen to her is to feel it. Add to this a classical arts background and forays into painting and game design – the vivid, cinematic wholeness of her sound should start looking like part of a wider story. On Pretty Poison, it plays out as vital club music that grows, warps, and regenerates in step with the life behind it.
