One warm summer night in 2009, my friend Jon and I were hanging out on our stoop and Eloise walked across the street, sparked up a conversation with us, and forever changed our lives.

She and I became close friends quickly and all of my friends who met her over the past five years loved her. Her personality lit up a room and a list of adjectives would completely fail to capture her spirit.
 
She died in her sleep on May 29th at the age of 68.

I miss her so much: her warmth, her humor, her voice, her amazing voicemails.

If you knew Eloise, you know that she always was talking about the next party - when were we going to get everyone together again?

This mix is the soundtrack to her next party, in celebration of her life: summer, disco, house, hip hop, and funk.

She listened to my radio show regularly and while she complained that my music had “too many strings”, she knew what my favorite tracks were at any given time and we shared a mutual love of Erykah Badu and Snoop Dogg (she loved his album ‘Ego Trippin’) amongst many others. 

You never know when you're going to say goodbye to someone for the last time. Call up your friends and family and tell them you love them.

Then, turn up this mix and get a party going - that's what Eloise would have wanted.
