A long lost recording, recently found hiding on a CD in a Morrissey solo album cover. Mastering unsuccessful in dispensing with a rather annoying ground hum, but otherwise pretty good I reckon. Recorded and mixed with Ian Lander, who also contributed piano and string/synth parts, and featuring Brian Barnett (guitar and BV), Andy Capon (percussion) and Dave Minter (bass).

The last song to be recorded by the Alternative Alternative - written by David Holt, arranged by Jim Warren and featuring Paul 'Rolling Thunder' Tucker on drums. I was finally allowed to do a guitar solo as long as I stopped whingeing.

Is That Man There Galtieri?

By Waspjuice - me on voice and easy guitar, Brian Barnett on rather more difficult guitar, Chunta on bass and drums, and Ian Lander on keys. It needs a harmony vocal and a splash of dark twanging guitar here and there, but is otherwise done. I like the idea that the world is pulled together by tiny silver threads, and that we are contradictory and even unknowable in our impulses.

From one of the first Black Cillas portastudio sessions with Jim Warren at the Lever Street squat, Islington - 1985 at a guess. I think there is something quite charming about it.

Where The Buffalo Roam

The latest in a series of occasional pop songs by Waspjuice - on this occasion comprising Brian Barnett and me. I like the fuzzy mindworm guitar riff and find the lyrics compelling, even though I don't have the first clue as to their meaning or provenance. As I finished mixing the song it occurred to me that it is of course a sister piece to Sebastian, recorded by Black Cillas nearly 30 years ago.

Featuring the estimable talents of Brian Barnett (guitar) , Andy Capon (percussion) and David Minter (bass) with me singing. We recorded this in Andy's dining room on a digital multitrack in (I think) 2005; despite the fact that there weren't enough mics to go round, and that there was barely room to breathe out, I thought this turned out pretty well.
