Solo Piano - Chris Bright

seeking peace 11923 - 1:19:23, 6.59 PM

Recorded on a C. Bernstein grand piano and mixed November 2023 at GAM Studio by producer Armen Bedrossian near Paris, mastered by Coponat Records, Pioneers’ is a relaxing and uplifting solo piano piece. It was inspired by Northern America wide natural landscapes: the song describes the amazed feelings of the first pioneers when they discovered this land. The main melody and the second uplifting classical theme stand for a freedom hymn.

While listening to Electronic Intifada's interview with Abubaker live from Gaza Strip, I've improvised an electro-acoustic piece using field recordings, synthesizer and guitar. Instrumental version (without voice-over but perhaps with another poem when it gets written).

every instrument in the hyperzone and samples of every song of hyperzone melted and decomposed together into unabashedly noisy nothing sludge over an overly stretched out dysfunctional jpeg of a haunted house clipart for halloween red and black slime on the floor which is actually lava which i drink almost every day but other parts of this project were made under the influence of durian and moxie (enjoyed only separately as it should) and all of it was made by me {THË ĮŁŁK™} So experience,,,

Monday. / 微熱

I play the piano because it is where I let go of the have-to’s, and become part of something larger than myself. The language I speak on the keyboard when I improvise expresses a part of me that only comes out there at the moment of creation - when I’m fully connected and in the flow. In those moments when I disappear in the music, those are where I’m most fully alive. The musical question I pose to myself when I play is largely this: how can I release my inhibitions and let go of patterns sufficient to bring something entirely new, unexpected, and enlightening into the world, with structure, precision, clarity, and depth of expression. These pieces are meditations that are of me, but more precisely, they come through me. When I’m in the flow, I’m channeling the energy and only moderately directing it. The challenge is to be open to take risks while maintaining a structure, melody, and tempo that makes it interesting and satisfying enough to keep listening. I keep doing this nightly because it’s a language, because it’s a connection to something greater than myself, and because it’s very very relaxing.
