Gondishapur (v.1)

Started up a neat hip-hop instrumental. Might do some vocals on this one. Samples are from “Thought @ Work” and “Quills” from The Roots’ album Phrenology.

Swagger (v.5)

An extremely laid-back tribute to my favorite internet comedy of yesteryear. Samples are from various emails and music videos. This was entirely too much fun to make. 

Smarty Juice

This one has a more explicitly chiptune sound, but still plenty of samples. I imagine this as being a really cool town theme or perhaps overworld theme. Samples are from "Blazing Arrow" from Blackalicious' album of the same name. So I started using Return tracks to give everything a light delay and it adds a warmth and depth to everything. Might back it off a little bit more tho. Less is more for finishing touches.

Hibernia (v.4)

This one took a long time to come together. Samples are taken from Chemical Calisthenics by Blackalicious. I greatly improved my sampling game by, uh, filtering the samples. It's why Simpler has a built in filter for every sample. Because that's incredibly rudimentary. Man I'm good at this. 🤣

Galaxy Brain

I decided to greatly rework and expand the Homestar sampling based on all the fun I had with Smarty Juice. I've become much better since then. I've left the old version up if you wish to see a stark comparison.

Splounch VIP (v.9)

Used the trance "Performance" on Sorako to jump start a dance track of some sort. Ended up also being a commitment to making a really decent 16 sample vocal pad. The samples are from the legendary Shoko Nakagawa, from Sorairo Days. There's some electric guitar fuzz I can't get rid of, but I sort of minimized it with 8 EQ filter. it sounds beautiful nevertheless.

Dedicated to an old dear friend, who was my guide to the magical otherworld that is Japan. Wherever this is heard, let there be some slight understanding of how awesome you were, and will always be. 

Sorairo Tears (v.4)

Do you know there was a time when I tried sleeping only twenty minutes every four hours? It's called the Da Vinci sleep cycle. Did it work? No! 😂 All sounds are sourced from Yamaha MX61. Except Wu-Tang voice samples, obvi. Enjoy!

Polyphasia (v.4)

The feeling of sunrise coming up the Boulevard. The Valley might sleep, but Ventura Boulevard doesn't. All sounds except vocals courtesy of Yamaha MX-61. Enjoy!

Kawaramachi (v.2)

Esoteric electronic music producer with an aim to alchemize EDM, hip hop, and chiptune into glitch hop and beyond. I’m a strange multi-historian of music culture, and I collage as well as catalogue. At least, that’s what I do now. But this was not always so.

A strange vision appeared to me once. It seemed to be shaped like a man, but all black. Roundish. Tallish. With two piercing blue eyes gazing at me with seeming expectation. He said his name was Bill. He said he was glad I liked his music. He said if I wanted more I should write it.

Mr. Bill’s insanely gorgeous and catchy music made me realize that any limits I had conceived of simply did not exist. He has blown the secret vault door wide open and just left it off the hinges. It was evidence of alchemy of the most advanced kind I have ever seen. It was inevitable, friends, that I would follow after. That music. It just sounds like home. 😇
