Moar Sets

My bed In Black Rock City last year was practically on the DISTRIKT dance floor, so I was awakened by many of the opening sets, that are unjustly less attended than the closing sets, at dawn. The awakenings were always pleasant and often made me feel energized, and wishing for stronger playa WIFI so that I could shazam from my pillow what was being played. The opening sets defined DISTRIKT for me in 2016, and if my taste is any indication, some of those openers will eventually be playing the closing sets. I am so grateful for the entire DISTRIKT team for once again giving me the amazing Thursday sunset slot, and I hope that you enjoy listening and dancing and reminiscing to this one!

You can listen to my Burning Man 2017 Sunrise Set at The Kazbah now on my Soundcloud... Playing a post man-burn Sunday morning Sunrise set at #Kazbah has become my favorite yearly tradition and Ali Love jumps on the mic towards the end of the set... As a DJ the surroundings for this party are unreal... I love the gradual change from a bumping night time neon laser jam in mars till colors start to paint the sky in the morning.  The atmosphere felt like a rebel outlaw replicant camp on mars celebrating a blood red sunrise as it rose directly in front of an epic pyramid for the ultimate degenerate music listeners.  Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

Burning Man 2017 - Kazbah Sunrise Set

It's been a few years since last I spoke with LA-by-way-of-Barcelona artist @TACHES, born Alex Christopherson. I recall the weekend fondly: Desert Hearts in the soul center of Los Coyotes Indian Reservation. We chatted about everything from life and music to his own project and what the weekend meant to him. At that point, Alex had been making music for a few years in the realm of house and introspective dance, but he had found himself at a standstill when it came to inspiration and the true calling of his musical endeavors. By the end of the weekend, he imparted to me a level of excitement I don't often see in realtime. It was the pure elation of a lightbulb finally striking above one's head. It was creativity reemerging and a newfound sense of purpose. This moment was the start of the TÂCHES we're presenting to you today.

Without saying too much in honor of the mystery his project has enjoyed for the past few years, we'll let Alex explain his project, where he came from, where he's going, and how he's getting there. All we'll say is that this is the kind of mix you'll want to put on for a lovely evening in, as the soundtrack to an introspective psychedelic journey, or any time you're desperately seeking a moment of enlightenment and calm. We have our tents, coolers, sleeping bags, costumes and game faces packed as we gear up for the 3rd annual Dirtybird Campout! Every outing to the Great Outdoors needs a proper soundtrack, and we reached deep into the Dirtybird vaults for a super sized version of this year's Campout Compilation, with 15 tracks from several of the artists you'll see perform in the woods.  

In addition to including many past Dirtybird favorites, we’ve also added two special bonus tracks—the previously unreleased remix of Claude VonStroke's “Barrump” from Billy Kenny that's been a closely guarded weapon and been tearing up dancefloors all Summer, and Claude & Jesse Rose’s “Bare Mountain”, which was originally released on Jesse’s A-Sided label back in 2015.

For those of you Campers that spend your time dancing in front of the decks instead of spinning behind them, our Dirtybird Player, Ardalan, put together this year's compilation into a seamless mix for your adventures.
