2015 saw Stephan Bodzin release his second full length, “Powers of Ten”, as well as a new single on DJ Tennis’ and Tale of Us’ taste making label Life and Death. The album is another magical piece of work that focuses on melody and rhythm, on fat bass and vivid sound design and is a truly captivating journey through the mind, music, body and soul of one of dance music’s truly modern greats. After its release, a great team of modern music makers was enlisted to remix tracks from it: Maceo Plex & Shall Ochin, Fur Coat, Extrawelt, long time musical sparring partner Marc Romboy, Pan-Pot, Max Cooper, Agents of Time, Dominik Eulberg and many more all contributed to what is an essential collection. With a remix of ‘Sleepless’, a Pan-Pot track from their latest album, Stephan Bodzin closed the latest chapter of 2015 in what has been an exhilarating musical journey in his capable and creative hands.

At the end of every year most labels and publications look back and reflect on what has come before, re-packaging old tracks together or making top ten lists. IÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢m always trying to find some big new records at the end of the year so I can go play something fresh, so IÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢d like to present the DIRTYBRD New Years Special. 

Here are seven new bangers for your holiday DJ sets. The tracks are all new & most of them are by new talents on the label. Fresh faces include veteran German producer David Keno, an all new act called Jaded, Sirus Hood from Paris, My Cat Snoop, Mikey V, Wood Holly & Sage Armstrong.  Of course we have a few guys who have been on the label before, Ardalan, Genghis Clan, and Nick Olivetti.

All the tracks work great in the club which was the main criteria for the compilation, no headphone b-sides here (although we still love those too!). Happy holidays to everyone.

ARA KOUFAX have worked together since bonding in high school, introducing their new project in 2014 with Brenda: a feature of Cutters Records' Oceans Apart compilation. Supported by the likes of Tim Sweeney and BBC Radio 1, Brenda paved way for the release of the pair’s eponymous EP: a three-track love letter to bubbling, textured electronic music from all corners of the globe.

Now, they return to Cutters Records to share ADULT CONCEPTS: a celebration of the year’s end and a snapshot of what can be expected of Ara Koufax in 2016.

The EP’s second track, Makers, is propelled by a buoyant, chugging rhythm section - nodding with love to Omar S, Motor City Drum Ensemble and the coming of warmer weather. Standing as a tonal counterpoint to Adult Concepts, the b-side fluctuates in intensity: embracing the quiet and chaotic in equal measure.
