Darkness

Floating through space , passing planets containing cores of the separate instruments and sound , you hear aliens passing and laser guns shooting but you continue forth-ward toward planet BASS !!

Astral journey?!

A strange little song written around September 2015 in collaboration with a long dead fellow called Ted. (His contribution came from a junkshop postcard dated, if I remember correctly, 1906. The "all honey but no moon" phrase was his; I built the song around that.) 

Recorded at the Red Room, Edinburgh, May 2016.

So says Ted (who's dead):
that world was a fruit

All Honey but No Moon

Recorded not-quite-live in 2016 with my old cohorts Alex Palmer (drums) and Mario Rodriguez (bass/backing vocals) this is a version of a vintage soul number. Penned by songwriter Ed Cobb and originally a Brenda Holloway classic, I was more familiar with it through the Small Faces' excellent cover. 

I'd sat on it for about a year before adding the organ part which for me makes it complete.

The earliest surviving recording from the Graeme Mearns Band. Recorded as a demo around September 2005 (where did all the time go?) and of less-than-perfect sound-quality, it nonetheless made it onto the band's first album; the performance had something we thought was worth preserving, flaws and all. In short, it rocks.
