There’s nothing inherently wrong with having some general guidelines that keep us from falling into temptation. 
But if we think this is all that it means to live a Christian life, is to try to fit in this box of perceived holiness, then we’ve missed the point completely.

We must realize that not all races, ethnicities, and cultures have been treated equally throughout the history of Christianity. While we don’t personally carry the sins of our forefathers, we must recognize the damage that has been done and remain sensitive to the experiences of others in our society who are still affected today by those who came before us.

This faith that won’t make sense to others will be a light in our world. The way that we continue to extend grace and love to others even when it doesn’t make sense to do so, will be how we endure the fall of the world around us.
