We took to the Pumpui Stage for our 6th consecutive appearance.  After a pandemic driven sojourn - The energy by the Saturday night was immense and gave us our most enjoyable ever live set at the festival. As Afterhour Sounds, we have made it our mission to always think outside the box. So it's certainly no surprise that today we landed in Boston / USA at the afterhour there, to which Eartha Harris / Living Light invited us.

We've had the fascinating and enterprising American on our radar for quite some time now. Since her premiere "Mirrors" (https://soundcloud.com/afterhour-sounds/premiere-eartha-harris-mirror-suit-sofa-beats?in=livinglight/sets/mirror-suit-featuring-bluetech) about 2 years ago, we are totally convinced of her sound. 

Somewhere between dreamy, melodic, but always driving music, she provides the listener with constant goosebumps. Both at home and in the club. Her mixes also have a clear thread, which is reflected in their structure, stylistic coherence and a fluid groove. She herself describes her project Eartha Harris as a mixture of ethno and melodic techno. No matter how you categorise and describe it, one thing becomes clear pretty quickly when listening to it. She knows her craft. No wonder. The American has been an integral part of the local electronic scene for over two decades. She is on the road both as a solo artist and as a band keyboarder.

Besides many unknown but wonderful tracks, she has also included one of her upcoming releases, which you should not miss. Also, be sure to check out her other project Living Light (https://soundcloud.com/livinglight), in which she very successfully dedicates herself to psychedelic dub. It's amazing what a broad spectrum of electronic dance music she serves. Be curious.

Definitely a podcast that should find its place in every electronic music playlist. Whether day or night, dance or dream... this music always works. Promise.

DAVID PHOENIX is the alias of Hungarian DJ & Producer David Janecska, an artist whose career within electronic music spans two decades and a multitude of genres. In 2003, David began to make his first forays into music production, experimenting with a variety of styles that drew influence from the blistering sounds of breakbeat and techno that were popular at the time. From here, he followed his love of broken beat rhythms to the Drum & Bass scene, quickly becoming an avid collector of the genre’s musical history and developing an exacting ear for the qualities that make for a unique and impactful record while doing so.
Beginning in 2017, David redoubled his pursuit of music production. In doing so, he drew on his formative influence of techno, combined it with the mindbending sound design of neuro & psy, and distilled these elements down to their most minimal forms. The results speak for themselves, with David’s productions presenting sleek, steady, and driving grooves perfectly produced for the dancefloor. In continuing on this new path, he began to DJ under his DAVID PHOENIX alias in 2019 and released his debut EP “Cybercrime” on Dense Audio in 2020. Fast forward three years and DAVID PHOENIX has become one of the fastest-growing names in the minimal techno world with numerous releases on many of the genre’s most respected labels, including Music4Aliens, Subios, Techgnosis Records, and more. DAVID PHOENIX’s releases repeatedly chart amongst Beatport’s “Top 100” most popular tracks, and have carried him to stages worldwide from his native Hungary to Mexico, India, Saudi Arabia, and beyond. In 2023, DAVID PHOENIX has capitalized on these successes with the launch of his VISION SERPENT imprint, a record label that stands out with its unique concept and delivers quality minimal and psytech releases. With more of his own releases to come, the rise of DAVID PHOENIX is set to shine brightly amidst the darkened dance floors of his sonic home as he soars ever upwards with the spectacular energy of his mythological namesake.

Meet Angelina aka grey.ish — a DJ from Vienna who has turned a casual experiment into a beloved hobby over the past two years. With roots in dance, grey.ish's connection to music runs deep; she was swaying to beats before she could even walk. Discovering techno and its clubs, she found herself drawn to the darker sounds, perhaps because they contrast with her own personality. 

Last year, grey.ish regularly played at Donautechno and had main slots at Werk, Flucc, and Zukunftshof. Currently, she is traveling, exploring not only new countries but also new music. Um das große Finale der Festivalsaison gebührend zu feiern sind lauter Herzensmenschen auf der mystischen Insel zusammengekommen. Nach einer der schönsten & intensivsten Nächte meines Lebens bin ich Sonntag Mittag in den sonnigen Freaky Forest geschlendert. Und dann hab ich mich getraut einfach mal zu zocken was mich grade am meisten bewegt. Ohne darüber nachzudenken wie das wohl ankommt, egal was von mir erwartet wird, egal wie gut die Vibes zueinander passen, egal wieviele Tracks zum mitsingen nacheinander kommen. Und es war ein Riesen Spaß diese bunte Tüte mit euch zu genießen. Ich bin lange nichtmehr so befreit und voller Freude durch die Booth gehüpft. Ihr strahlenden Tanzmäuse wart ein Traum✨
Ich hoffe ich vergesse nie wie ihr mit Händen in der Luft, zwischen Nebel und von der Sonne geküsst, mitsingend durch den freaky Forest hüpft 💜

To celebrate the big finale of the festival season in style, a whole bunch of people close to my heart came together on the mystical island. After one of the most beautiful & intense nights of my life, I strolled into the sunny Freaky Forest on Sunday lunchtime. And then I dared to just play what moved me the most at the moment. Without thinking about how it would be received, no matter what was expected of me, no matter how well the vibes matched, no matter how many tracks to sing along to. And it was great fun to enjoy this colorful mix with you. It's been a long time since I've bounced so freely and joyfully through the booth. You glowing dancing mice were a dream✨
I hope I never forget how you jumped through the freaky forest with your hands in the air, between the fog and kissed by the sun, singing along 💜

Lockdown-World! We are living in a Lockdown-World!

It is 2020! It is Streamcember! Let me seeeeee your hands up in the air!!!!

So @mytripismytrip invited me to their studio long time agoooooo after they had this great spontaneous b2b meetup with Nixe (@ju_nixe) for New Years (This era of time, where people gave each other hugs…. HUGS!!!! *leaves the stage sobbing*). 
It finally happened just a few days before the second lockdown: we teamed up with our favorite toys to create an improvised hybrid live set on twitch. I love us for having this deep trust in each other that this will work and try out new things live for other people to watch! 
It worked out fine with just a few first-step-struggles, that were brushed away with some Sekt. Sekt for all of us hahaha!
