Let's go back one day - it is amazing what can happen in 24 hours - to about 30 minutes prior to race time, where we caught up with Red Squad team mates Clarence and Mirko at the start line, to hear their thoughts on the heat, nutrition, pacing strategies,  and making it through the desert.

Hello and welcome in again to Scorchers Radio. With the Scorchers having wrapped up their epic effort across America in June, we were able to catch up with some of the team and volunteers for a retrospective on how it all went. Everything from missing bikes, to missing Bill, climbing, tailwinds, and tornadoes. 

This commute length retrospective special supports the Scorchers efforts to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in their fight against canncer. Even though the Scorchers are off the road, they will continue to work to raise awareness to fight cancer. 

We were able to catch the team with their daily lives in progress via conference call, so we do apologize for any background noise.

Just as someone who has contracted a blood cancer is in for the longest endurance event of their lives, an endurance cycling event is a small reflection of what they face. Race Across America (RAAM) is a 3000 mile ride from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis MD. Riders come from all over the world to participate in this premier ultra-cycling event.

Our team will be attempting to cover the 3000 miles through the 100+ degree desert heat and up three mountain ranges starting June 15, 2019. We have a team of eight riders and eight crew members who will ride as a relay team.
