Forever Blue

I really liked this idea I had in my head of a bass and guitar providing a rhythmic counterpoint to each other to make a groove, and this song was the result.

I Don't Remember

This is a song I wrote after getting back from an Enuff Z'Nuff concert. The influences are palpable on this one.

I Can't Tell You Why

This track's sound was inspired by Jimmy Page's project The Firm. I remember loving this searing electric guitar tone he had when playing some of the higher chord voicings in those songs, so when I wrote this I knew what kind of approach I wanted with the guitars.

After that, everything else just fell into place.

Pressure

This was a song that pretty much jumped into my head complete when I was feeling melancholy in New England.

Bittersweet

I almost lost the idea for this one while I went whitewater rafting in Maine and nearly died. No, seriously. 

I stopped to eat at a diner on the way to the Penobscot River and was suddenly hit with this song idea that was equally modern and delightfully retro. I had no way to write down this song idea that struck me, so I kept humming the idea to myself, desperate to hold on to this one until I got back to the hotel.

I nearly didn't make it.

Going rafting there during glacier runoff season made the section of river unusually violent. I was knocked out of the raft when a wave hit me square in the chest, and was pushed under the current twice more. As I was pulled below the raging waters, my wet suit's boots were both sucked off of my feet, never to be seen again.

I survived, obviously...but I forgot the song. It took until the next day as I was driving back home for the chorus melody to thankfully come back to me. Armed with pen and paper this time, it was now assured to become fully - ahem - realized.

So yeah, glad I didn't lose this song. Equally glad I didn't die.
