This song I did for my beautiful wife mostly, but I like it too. Thought I would tackle a hybrid acoustic/electric. Somewhere in the middle of what has already been done by foos.

Leaving with the day

My cover of the Mad Season song River of Deceit. First take, used a condenser mic on one channel and my Fender Tim Armstrong acoustic guitar plugged in on another. The start is a little shaky but it comes good. I like the mix though. Nicest mix I have done I think.

This is an instrumental of mine (mainly cause I can't think of something to go over it adequately)and the music tells its own story here. Working with the basic idea of a huge build up/climax to end it as an orchestra might do, but with a melodious hook throughout the song. I was also playing around with various sounds to make it harder to recognise the instrument playing it.

Shihad were one of the best bands to come out of NZ. I strongly suggest you watch their documentary "Beautiful Machine" if you havent done so already. This was a remarkably simple but well constructed song of theirs. Just the two guitar parts are well put together, add a bass and drums and you have a great recipe for a rock song. My version here is a stripped down version. Just 2 clean guitars and a little slower.
