Chris Liebing remakes Emmanuel Top’s iconic ‘Turkish Bazar’. A new version of the 1994 acid rave hit lands on Liebing’s CLR on 20th December 2024.

Chris Liebing’s long-awaited remake of Emmanuel Top’s 1994 classic ‘Turkish Bazar’ arrives on CLR this December. Initially released via the Le Petit Prince label, ‘Turkish Bazar’ is an evergreen club hit, now painstakingly rebuilt by Techno powerhouse Chris Liebing, with each musical element reforged to create an essential new version.

Liebing’s version of ‘Turkish Bazar’ features the instantly recognisable spoken word vocal of the original, while he ups its unmistakable 303 with an additional dose of acid. Raw, unfiltered licks are in tandem with pounding drums as airy pads and dainty sequences aim to soothe dancefloor madness. Extensively road-tested by Chris Liebing and blessed by Emmanuel Top for release via CLR, this is a mammoth revisit that lives up to the original’s timeless appeal.

Shlomi Aber drops his latest ‘Limelight’ EP on CLR this February. Aber then drops a broken mix of ‘Limelight’, scuﬃng the kicks and bringing a raw funk feel already picked up by the likes of Radio Slave, Josh Wink, Dave Clarke, Alienata, and more. Last is Shlomi Aber’s 'Riot,' an earth-shattering, pure techno sound with rolling drums and sustained chords that will lock dancers in the groove and slowly melt their minds.

Active since 1994, Be As One boss Shlomi Aber has brought his unique style of Techno to esteemed imprints such as Cocoon, Ovum, Nonplus, Figure, and CLR. Returning to Chris Liebing’s imprint, Aber follows his month-long Beatport chart-topping 2022 ‘Can’t Sleep’ EP and subsequent 2023 ‘Remote 101’ EP with ‘Limelight’, another versatile package of quality Techno cuts.

Chris Liebing returns to his CLR with two-track EP.

Chris Liebing comes back to his CLR label this April with the ‘Phantom Rider’ EP, already supported by Daniel Avery, GiGi FM, Jon Hester, and more. The first track, ‘Kaizen’, doesn’t hold back - pounding drums, cavernous dub chords, and a razor-sharp snare-laden groove all play a part in this peak-time offering. Liebing’s ‘Wailer’ completes the package, continuing with more rough and raw rhythm and wonky, unfiltered 303 lines, making for a fantastic follow-up to his acclaimed version of Emmanuel Top’s acid techno hit, ‘Turkish Bazaar’, which closed out CLR’s 2024 and has stayed at the top of the Beatport Techno charts throughout 2025.

It follows January 2025’s ‘Binary Fate’ three-tracker, Torwellen’s first foray onto the label, which won support from the likes of Luke Slater, Truncate, Dave Clarke, and more. Supercharged drums hammer and shake on the EP. The air hums with raw electric power, zapping through soft dub chords that tumble in the distance, oﬀering a glimpse of another world while its industrial groove rattles on. Three hours of incendiary techno, as two veterans go head-to-head.

When Speedy J described his studio dynamic with Chris Liebing back in 2014, he put it bluntly: "I try to piss him off a little." The result? Dance music that's as functional and precise as Liebing demands, with just enough chaos to keep it interesting. That tension has defined the duo's partnership, Collabs 3000, since their first releases, and it's alive and well on their debut RA Mix. 

Both artists are techno heavyweights in their own right. Jochem Paap, AKA Speedy J, helped Europe slow down after the breakneck '90s, proving that techno could chug as well as pummel. Liebing, meanwhile, commanded his popular label CLR and went from transforming schranz into the hard techno sound that recently swept up a younger generation of ravers. 

As a pair, Collabs 3000 undeniably has its ear trained on the big room. Paap and Liebing are both former Berghain regulars, and the Berlin club's influence is clear across RA.1006: taut, muscular techno, or "effective and structured" in Liebing's words, with Paap injecting the right amount of unpredictability. Their 2005 full-length, Metalism, remains a landmark: polished, uncompromising and dynamite for any large sound system. 

With the album now remastered for its 20th anniversary, Collabs 3000's RA Mix brings that same ferocious energy into sharp focus: smouldering textures, peak-time pressure and three unrelenting hours of classic techno.

CLR releases a strictly limited, vinyl only remix EP with three different versions of Chris Liebing´s take on “Lie Down In Darkness” (which owes its title to William Styron’s strange dark novel of the same name) from Moby´s recent studio album “Destroyed”.

“Lie Down In Darkness” has been described as an “achingly soulful track of sublime melancholy and symphonic grandeur”. If you want to know how this will sound, remixed by one of techno´s most sought-after producers of our time, we suggest you to get one of the 1000 vinyl copies of this release. For several obvious reasons, CLR 051 is an extraordinary record and already a collector´s item.

Chris Liebing is synonymous with techno. His legacy is long assured, but his craft never stops evolving. Whether as label head, podcast curator, DJ or producer, he continues to challenge himself and his audience to explore new realms in the electronic world. And often ahead of the curve, too, from the early, hard-edged and loopy 90s sound which is back en vogue today, through his more stripped-back turn of the millennium minimalism and onto the cinematic atmospheres and broader alternative electronica of his latest albums on Mute. It's no stretch to say, then, that Chris Liebing's story is closely connected to the story of techno itself. 

Liebing is considered a global techno ambassador, but his ambitious album projects and direct club tracks excite and innovate as much as any new school star. A proudly forward-thinking attitude ensures that is the case as his DJ tools and studio setup constantly evolve. He continues to be an early adopter of emerging technology, too, just as he was with vinyl controllers, Traktor and when leading the way with full hybrid/live DJing. 

These days, Liebing incorporates an ever wider sphere of sound into his own work. After an eight-year break from full lengths, 2018's Burn Slow on Mute was a creative rebirth that received critical acclaim and confounded all expectations. It was a melancholic mediation on gothic moods, looming apocalyptic landscapes and optimistic broken-beat techno that drew from his childhood love of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and the New Romantic movement. 

Remixes for Depeche Mode and Goldfrapp followed alongside a collaborative single with Charlotte De Witte, and 2021 brought a second album on Mute, Another Day. It found Liebing exploring all new ways of expressing both his euphoric and melodic side, all with high-grade technical skill and meticulous sonic craft with a range of collaborators from Miles Cooper Seaton to Polly Scattergood. This exceptional form continued into 2023 as he returned to the club with his Love Those Who Fight With Passion And Faith EP on CLR, a passionate and politically charged call to the dance floor that joined Liebing and Luke Slater’s remix of Depeche Mode’s iconic ‘Ghosts Again’ in the first half of the year. 

Born in Giessen and active ever since the 1990s, Liebing has always platformed the talent around him as much as himself: a long time before they were commonplace, he famously helmed his own CLR podcast. For many years, it was the scene's most influential series, with a who's who of international pioneers at the helm. After that came the equally important AM/FM radio show, but now following a hiatus, the CLR podcast is back and pushing a fresh techno agenda, as is his iconic label of the same name.

In its first chapter, CLR stood for Chris Liebing Records, then Create Learn Realize, and now Create Learn Repeat - a subtle evolution that is at the heart of everything Liebing does. The label will always be synonymous with exciting techno and is now back hosting parties and festival stages. 

Though his music is underpinned by pulsating menace and a stomping sense of drama, Liebing himself is friendly with a famous smile. It is the music that motivates him and the freedom that comes with increased experience. These days there are no limits, no expectations, but a continued love for the art and craft of techno that is taking him down all new creative pathways.
