Written by the guys in 2012, 'Dreaming Of You' is finally ready to be unleashed on the world with some classic remixes to boot. The song has already received support from the likes of Southport Weekender, as they had previously added it to their 'Track Of The Day' in 2013.  

The summer infused vibe of the original (and dub), with it's building arp's and spiraling melodies, has been complimented brilliantly with JKriv's raw disco power, and Kenny's soulful but hard hitting house mix. 4 heavy tracks for a variety of DJ's, and only at a level of quality you have come to expect from Bobbin Head Music.

We here at Second State are thrilled to bring you our new concept entitled HUB. While most labels these days are doing various artists releases to showcase the overall talent on their label, we thought it would be better suited for both our listeners and ourselves to break the mold and bring you a series of true collaborations. Each HUB release will feature a single artist teaming up with others from the Second State family to create an EP of authentic musical compromises. A place where multiple minds find a harmony somewhere outside their own identity and each collaboration conceives a genuinely unique artifact. With this, there is no one we would rather have kick off the series than the man behind the massive EPs; 'Throwl' and 'Doch', Stephan Hinz with HUB One!

Second track of the EP is Next is 'Hak' with Philipp Ruhmhardt. Together they have already made waves with their tune, 'Doch' becoming an anthem almost immediately since it's release last May. This time they are back with a stormer that feels like racing through a metropolis at warp speed. Each chord stab is a quick, bright flash of color as the shakers and hi hats impersonate the rapid pulse of a speedometer. 'Hak' is a white knuckle ride.

Drumcode favourite Harvey McKay returns to the label with a darker new sound.

The Glaswegian has been a regular contributor over the years, highlighted by the memorable ‘The Illusion of Control’ EP in 2014 and his newer work with brother Ryan under the Alias moniker. Earlier this year Drumcode released the duo’s ‘Pentatonic’ EP and featured a mix on Adam Beyer’s radio, which included ‘Black Dolphin’, kickstarting the hype on the track.

Named after the infamous Russian prison, the title track is dark, tough, deeply textured brooding affair, with a menacing touch than runs through its core. McKay then brings in a huge synth line and changes up the dynamic of the track, giving it a powerful and driving feel. ‘Retox’ is a dark and twisted heavy-hitting cut, driven by aggressive drums and bassline, while a hypnotic synth line sustains a sense of tension throughout the six-minute track. Concluding the package is ‘Cover Up’, a fantastic stripped back exploration into dark atmospheric techno territory that’s tailor made for the winter warehouse raving season.

We don't have every day a rework of a classic techno milestone on a label that tries to push the boundaries of the future, but this time is the time. Thomas Schumacher represents one of those artists that was there since the very beginning, and he is the proof of how an artist can evolve in many ways during the years, but always been devoted to techno, and the meaning of it. Joining forces for the first time are label founder Len Faki and Juxta Position, a rather fresh yet already integral member of Figure. How effectively the prolific producers worked them machines with combined strength shows in every fiber of this four-tracker.

The record‘s sides feature two alternate mixes of each track: Superstition tempts with is sultry vocal, driven by an irresistible acidic groove, fusing Juxta Position’s preference for rough and analogue sounds with the tight programming Len Faki has become renowned for. Paying tribute to UK’s gritty brand of warehouse-techno, A2 introduces a more swinging and all-out version of the track.

A lot more tender than its counterpart, Gathering Clouds slowly builds from jagged synths and droning basses, brewing up a vivid tempest of anticipation. Verging carefully on the moment of emotional release, we are left to imagine the theatrical scenery cooked up in this delicious blend of the two artists’ singular skills.

Rekids boss Matt Edwards debuts on Rekids Special Projects under his prolific Radio Slave moniker with ‘Command Z’, marking the twentieth release on the offshoot series.

Undeniably one of house and techno’s most sought after and beloved producers and remixers, Matt Edwards kickstarted Special Projects as a techno focused series in 2017. Since then it has gone on to host incredible artists like FBK, Shinedoe, P.Leone, Hemka and Dustin Zahn, not to mention SRVD - Edwards’s collaborative project alongside club kid Patrick Mason. Three years later, the Berlin-based Brit finally graces the label under his most revered
pseudonym.

‘Command Z’ opens with roaming synth patterns, slick kicks, delicately placed plucks and a haunting soundfloor which gives a sense of allure alongside it’s thundering rhythm. On the flip, ‘Command X’ situates itself perfectly for cavernous warehouse spaces or intimate club environments with its rattling snares, arpeggiated keys, lively saturated claps, rawly reversed pads and rippling cymbals.

Chris Liebing is synonymous with techno. His legacy is long assured, but his craft never stops evolving. Whether as label head, podcast curator, DJ or producer, he continues to challenge himself and his audience to explore new realms in the electronic world. And often ahead of the curve, too, from the early, hard-edged and loopy 90s sound which is back en vogue today, through his more stripped-back turn of the millennium minimalism and onto the cinematic atmospheres and broader alternative electronica of his latest albums on Mute. It's no stretch to say, then, that Chris Liebing's story is closely connected to the story of techno itself. 

Liebing is considered a global techno ambassador, but his ambitious album projects and direct club tracks excite and innovate as much as any new school star. A proudly forward-thinking attitude ensures that is the case as his DJ tools and studio setup constantly evolve. He continues to be an early adopter of emerging technology, too, just as he was with vinyl controllers, Traktor and when leading the way with full hybrid/live DJing. 

These days, Liebing incorporates an ever wider sphere of sound into his own work. After an eight-year break from full lengths, 2018's Burn Slow on Mute was a creative rebirth that received critical acclaim and confounded all expectations. It was a melancholic mediation on gothic moods, looming apocalyptic landscapes and optimistic broken-beat techno that drew from his childhood love of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and the New Romantic movement. 

Remixes for Depeche Mode and Goldfrapp followed alongside a collaborative single with Charlotte De Witte, and 2021 brought a second album on Mute, Another Day. It found Liebing exploring all new ways of expressing both his euphoric and melodic side, all with high-grade technical skill and meticulous sonic craft with a range of collaborators from Miles Cooper Seaton to Polly Scattergood. This exceptional form continued into 2023 as he returned to the club with his Love Those Who Fight With Passion And Faith EP on CLR, a passionate and politically charged call to the dance floor that joined Liebing and Luke Slater’s remix of Depeche Mode’s iconic ‘Ghosts Again’ in the first half of the year. 

Born in Giessen and active ever since the 1990s, Liebing has always platformed the talent around him as much as himself: a long time before they were commonplace, he famously helmed his own CLR podcast. For many years, it was the scene's most influential series, with a who's who of international pioneers at the helm. After that came the equally important AM/FM radio show, but now following a hiatus, the CLR podcast is back and pushing a fresh techno agenda, as is his iconic label of the same name.

In its first chapter, CLR stood for Chris Liebing Records, then Create Learn Realize, and now Create Learn Repeat - a subtle evolution that is at the heart of everything Liebing does. The label will always be synonymous with exciting techno and is now back hosting parties and festival stages. 

Though his music is underpinned by pulsating menace and a stomping sense of drama, Liebing himself is friendly with a famous smile. It is the music that motivates him and the freedom that comes with increased experience. These days there are no limits, no expectations, but a continued love for the art and craft of techno that is taking him down all new creative pathways.
