Those merits alone can command a dance floor but, combined with a single organ line that is equal parts villainous, psychedelic, and beautiful while being perfectly constructed with a masters knowledge in the art of tension and suspense, they have conceived a magnum opus of grand proportions.

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

Italo-German Vincenzo returns to Anjunadeep with “Just Like Heaven”, the first single taken from his forthcoming fourth artist album “The Vanishing Years”. Having built his reputation over nearly two decades with timeless releases on iconic labels like Steve Bug’s Dessous and Anjunadeep itself, the album is shaping up to be an excellent reminder of Vincenzo’s impressive talent and longevity.

“Just Like Heaven” might be instantly recognisable to some as a cover of The Cure’s celebrated 1987 single. Vincenzo teams up once again with vocalist Minako Sasajima, who adds a delicate soul to Robert Smith’s romantic lyrics, which glide above a floating bass groove and falling synths. Full of emotion and colour, “Just Like Heaven” sees Vincenzo at the top of his game.

The first of two exciting remixes comes from another veteran of the German scene, Dave DK. A former resident at the legendary Panorama Bar, Dave’s recent releases on the excellent Pampa Records and Kompakt have been met with widespread acclaim, and he delivers another beauty here. Twisting the vocal almost beyond recognition, and layering it with dark melodies and left-field textures, Dave creates a memorable piece of atmospheric techno.

Swedish rising star HNNY is another artist on a hot streak thanks to recent EPs on Local Talk and Permanent Vacation. Taking an altogether different approach to Dave DK, HNNY’s remix is a raw and quirky slice of melodic house music, driven along by infectious bass stabs and twinkling melodies.

Vincenzo - Just Like Heaven (Dave DK Remix)

Storming his way back onto Drumcode Luigi Madonna closes off the Summer with a four track smasher that will see him welcome in Autumn with a bang. Each track contains the solid, raw drums that are the backbone to each track Luigi has conjured up. With a brooding undertone, the simplicity found in each track gives the lead lines and ideas more space to breath, which overall creates a unique and charismatic submission that can only be found from the Italian.

Kaiserdisco are back on Drumcode with 3 brand new tracks including the heavy hitting ‘Black Light’, that has been championed by Adam Beyer in recent sets. ‘Black Light’ uses old school stabs that weave up and down to create a roller coaster of a ride. ‘SQ 80’ and ‘Manley’ are groovy numbers that really show Kaiserdisco’s versatility.

German based duo Hidden Empire are swiftly making progression in their climb to the top of the techno scene. They’re known from several hit releases on Stil vor Talent and Traum Schallplatten. We are gleesome to open the doors of Filth on Acid and welcome them for a 3 track original EP. On remix duties we gladly find Egbert, the Dutch powerhouse of peak-time techno, who’s currently releasing on Drumcode.

Twilight Of The Gods opens with Baldur. The authoritative, round kick and bassline build a colossal foundation on which propulsive arpeggiators shift things into next gear. A sturdy, polished groove ensures movement on the dancefloor. The atmospherics and hornlike shout of Baldur, hint to the unfortunate fate of this mythological creature as well as building pleasant pressure.

Mjolnir, the hammer of Thor, stays true to its name, as it is a definite peak-time affair. Long stretched swelling, bassy pads are the backbone for reverberated percussion and dapper synth stabs. Memorable synth melodies unfold on the break to balance force and profoundness.

Bragi can be seen as the most hypnotic of the pack. Arpeggiated synths, soft pads and detailed synths hint to the abstruse nature of Bragi; the god of poets. Smart drum programming keeps the track in ever morphing state.

We close the EP in style, with Egbert’s remix of Bragi. As an artist, always on the lookout of new ways to detonate party crowds, this time he derives a groove with qualities of cavalry. Throughout the track the kick, bassline and drums continuously exert and exchange powers, which makes it sound like a constant battle as to where in the groove they can sit. This unique element builds an enormous strain. Combined with the beautiful break; again Egbert’s music arrives at the next level.

Ramiro Lopez drops the electrifying follow up to his ‘Pretending’ EP from May this year. 

For almost a decade, Spain’s Ramiro Lopez has established himself as one his country’s leading proponents of techno, with strong releases across labels that include Suara, Intec, Octopus Recordings and Bedrock. He first debuted on Drumcode in 2016 with the rousing collaborative track ‘Clap Your Hands’ that ranked among one of the label’s standout tracks for the year. With one Drumcode release already under his belt in 2017 and a new label project Odd Recordings with fellow DC cohort Arjun Vagale recently launched, he’s enjoying another strong year.

His return to the label comes in the form of ‘Being Alone’, a powerful trio of cuts, all of which featured in Adam Beyer’s Awakenings Festival Day 1 performance. The title track is a multi-layered weapon, propelled by a dizzying vocal, swirling synth effects and pin-sharp percussion that build toward a smooth classy finish. ‘Dark Science’ is an effective stomper brought to life by a bell chime hookline and undulating synth melody ensuring its peak-time prowess. ‘Der Raum’ rounds out the EP, highlighted by Lopez’s deft drum work, proceeded by a driving, euphoric climax.

Chris Liebing is synonymous with techno. His legacy is long assured, but his craft never stops evolving. Whether as label head, podcast curator, DJ or producer, he continues to challenge himself and his audience to explore new realms in the electronic world. And often ahead of the curve, too, from the early, hard-edged and loopy 90s sound which is back en vogue today, through his more stripped-back turn of the millennium minimalism and onto the cinematic atmospheres and broader alternative electronica of his latest albums on Mute. It's no stretch to say, then, that Chris Liebing's story is closely connected to the story of techno itself. 

Liebing is considered a global techno ambassador, but his ambitious album projects and direct club tracks excite and innovate as much as any new school star. A proudly forward-thinking attitude ensures that is the case as his DJ tools and studio setup constantly evolve. He continues to be an early adopter of emerging technology, too, just as he was with vinyl controllers, Traktor and when leading the way with full hybrid/live DJing. 

These days, Liebing incorporates an ever wider sphere of sound into his own work. After an eight-year break from full lengths, 2018's Burn Slow on Mute was a creative rebirth that received critical acclaim and confounded all expectations. It was a melancholic mediation on gothic moods, looming apocalyptic landscapes and optimistic broken-beat techno that drew from his childhood love of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and the New Romantic movement. 

Remixes for Depeche Mode and Goldfrapp followed alongside a collaborative single with Charlotte De Witte, and 2021 brought a second album on Mute, Another Day. It found Liebing exploring all new ways of expressing both his euphoric and melodic side, all with high-grade technical skill and meticulous sonic craft with a range of collaborators from Miles Cooper Seaton to Polly Scattergood. This exceptional form continued into 2023 as he returned to the club with his Love Those Who Fight With Passion And Faith EP on CLR, a passionate and politically charged call to the dance floor that joined Liebing and Luke Slater’s remix of Depeche Mode’s iconic ‘Ghosts Again’ in the first half of the year. 

Born in Giessen and active ever since the 1990s, Liebing has always platformed the talent around him as much as himself: a long time before they were commonplace, he famously helmed his own CLR podcast. For many years, it was the scene's most influential series, with a who's who of international pioneers at the helm. After that came the equally important AM/FM radio show, but now following a hiatus, the CLR podcast is back and pushing a fresh techno agenda, as is his iconic label of the same name.

In its first chapter, CLR stood for Chris Liebing Records, then Create Learn Realize, and now Create Learn Repeat - a subtle evolution that is at the heart of everything Liebing does. The label will always be synonymous with exciting techno and is now back hosting parties and festival stages. 

Though his music is underpinned by pulsating menace and a stomping sense of drama, Liebing himself is friendly with a famous smile. It is the music that motivates him and the freedom that comes with increased experience. These days there are no limits, no expectations, but a continued love for the art and craft of techno that is taking him down all new creative pathways.
