Pan-Pot are back, this time with the Cells EP on their newly formed label, Second State. The new label sees Pan-Pot taking full creative control as they move into the second phase of their career, and both Cells and Third Eye are keen indicators that the pair are starting a new chapter of their sonic journey.

Third Eye was born out of Pan-Pot’s urge to create a track with a driving, hypnotic bassline. As a result, Third Eye makes its way into your head as listeners instantly get hooked on the bassline, but it’s not until the arp changes that things really start getting weird and fun.

The title track Cells was built around the synthline after it caught Pan-Pot right from the beginning. Similar to a cell starting in its simplest form and expanding, the track builds into a peak of full dynamic and volume and is packed with a variety of frequencies.

Recondite marks his return to Hotflush with the epic, potentially summer-defining 'Caldera' and a sequel to his 2012 hit 'DRGN'. The Bavarian artist has undergone a dazzling rise since that time, and one which is reflected in the increasing opulence of his music.

'Caldera', with its dramatic arpeggios and crescendos, is unabashed big-field decadence. Bearing all the hallmarks on which he's made his name - space, subtlety, build, attention to timbre - over the course of 9 minutes it raises the temperature to white heat. 'DRGN 2' picks up exactly where its 2012 namesake left off; that is, with an arching melody played out over droning tones of insidious intent. Dark, imposing and elegant - this is Recondite at his most wicked.

Recondite - Caldera EP (HFT035 Preview)

After his immaculate percussion heavy remix work on our last EP, we knew it wouldn't be belong before Cera Alba of Hot Creations fame was Lost again. 

For our next release Cera steps up with the 4 track killer “The Void” EP. The lead track Modula kicks things off nicely with a bubbling bass line and jackin synth pattern that runs over a lingering vocal hook. The break allows his trademark funkier grooves to shine through consistently. On a remix tip are label bosses Leftwing and Kody who showcase their signature sound with their distorted take on the main room vocals.  Their deep rolling techy sound is well implemented throughout. Massive praises to a well mastered clap effect, which will be sure to get you moving! 

Next up is Dissonancia with a clever driving drum arrangement and shaking preparation of unusual synth cords that knits dreamily on to a tight melodic hook. The amalgamation of solid shakers, hi hats and sneaky rim rounds fits this tune effortlessly in to both peak 1am dancefloor heat and sunrise vibe territory. 
For this track remix duties lie with Danish deep house recruit Christian Nielson who has been towering up the ranks lately by showcasing his inventive production and remix skills. Christian reworks the original with raw energy throughout. 

This EP when teased on the right  soundsystem is a dead on jam that’s sure to captivate.

After appearing on our sister label Truesoul and also the A-sides Volume 2, dubspeeka releases his first full EP on Drumcode. Basing his sound heavily on his uniquely dark and twisted melodies, dubspeeka has created a brooding, atmospheric EP that capture each individual feeling on the techno scale from bouncing, energetic tracks to melancholic offerings. His use of Percussive sounds add energy to tracks such as Primary K290 and his array of eloquent lead lines add depth and character that can be heard on Primary K293.

Florian Meindl is to release a new EP on the 2nd of November. Set for release on Florian's established label FLASH Recordings, Collide: Remixes is a collection of remixes of the tracks from Florian Meindl's well received May LP 'Collide'. A collision of analog sounds and styles, Collide takes the listener on a dark techno journey, while the remixers stay true to this. Florian has invited fellow electronic producers Berger, Dubspeeka, Electric Rescue & Avgusto to each bring their individual sound to the remix EP delivering a fresh take on the prominent tracks from Collide. The multi-talented and multi-faceted artist Florian Meindl is renowned for his technical prowess, and over the years has established an impressive producing base for him himself in his Berlin based Riverside Studio complex. Elevate is a label run by Techno mainstays Pig&Dan who are an international DJ and production duo, who along with releases on Elevate are a regular feature on labels including Drumcode, Cocoon, Bedrock and Terminal M.

Finishing off 2016 with a look to the future, the label owners have compiled a special 21 track release titled ‘Next Generation’.

Handpicked by Pig&Dan themselves the new Elevate release is very much a family gathering, where Elevate favourites like Mark Reeve, Aitor Ronda, Rob Hes and Carlo Ruetz get to meet and interact with artists like Etai Tarazi, Fideles and Sezer Uysal who are making their debut appearance on the label.

Each of the artists who feature on the release come with a proven musical pedigree with artists like Mark Reeve having recently released on Drumcode, and Sezer Uysal is heavily associated with Suara.

Carlo Ruetz has done a solo release on Richie Hawtin’s iconic label Minus, and Etai Tarazi has put out a number of EP’s on Sian's Octopus Records.

The list of prestigious things achieved by each of the artists on Elevate's forthcoming Next Generation release is endless, and most importantly the music is nothing less than spectacular!

Dancefloor focused with tough grooves and captivating tones, each track is programmed to perfection, and this sampler showcases six of the tracks from the release.

Rekids boss Matt Edwards debuts on Rekids Special Projects under his prolific Radio Slave moniker with ‘Command Z’, marking the twentieth release on the offshoot series.

Undeniably one of house and techno’s most sought after and beloved producers and remixers, Matt Edwards kickstarted Special Projects as a techno focused series in 2017. Since then it has gone on to host incredible artists like FBK, Shinedoe, P.Leone, Hemka and Dustin Zahn, not to mention SRVD - Edwards’s collaborative project alongside club kid Patrick Mason. Three years later, the Berlin-based Brit finally graces the label under his most revered
pseudonym.

‘Command Z’ opens with roaming synth patterns, slick kicks, delicately placed plucks and a haunting soundfloor which gives a sense of allure alongside it’s thundering rhythm. On the flip, ‘Command X’ situates itself perfectly for cavernous warehouse spaces or intimate club environments with its rattling snares, arpeggiated keys, lively saturated claps, rawly reversed pads and rippling cymbals.

Chris Liebing is synonymous with techno. His legacy is long assured, but his craft never stops evolving. Whether as label head, podcast curator, DJ or producer, he continues to challenge himself and his audience to explore new realms in the electronic world. And often ahead of the curve, too, from the early, hard-edged and loopy 90s sound which is back en vogue today, through his more stripped-back turn of the millennium minimalism and onto the cinematic atmospheres and broader alternative electronica of his latest albums on Mute. It's no stretch to say, then, that Chris Liebing's story is closely connected to the story of techno itself. 

Liebing is considered a global techno ambassador, but his ambitious album projects and direct club tracks excite and innovate as much as any new school star. A proudly forward-thinking attitude ensures that is the case as his DJ tools and studio setup constantly evolve. He continues to be an early adopter of emerging technology, too, just as he was with vinyl controllers, Traktor and when leading the way with full hybrid/live DJing. 

These days, Liebing incorporates an ever wider sphere of sound into his own work. After an eight-year break from full lengths, 2018's Burn Slow on Mute was a creative rebirth that received critical acclaim and confounded all expectations. It was a melancholic mediation on gothic moods, looming apocalyptic landscapes and optimistic broken-beat techno that drew from his childhood love of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and the New Romantic movement. 

Remixes for Depeche Mode and Goldfrapp followed alongside a collaborative single with Charlotte De Witte, and 2021 brought a second album on Mute, Another Day. It found Liebing exploring all new ways of expressing both his euphoric and melodic side, all with high-grade technical skill and meticulous sonic craft with a range of collaborators from Miles Cooper Seaton to Polly Scattergood. This exceptional form continued into 2023 as he returned to the club with his Love Those Who Fight With Passion And Faith EP on CLR, a passionate and politically charged call to the dance floor that joined Liebing and Luke Slater’s remix of Depeche Mode’s iconic ‘Ghosts Again’ in the first half of the year. 

Born in Giessen and active ever since the 1990s, Liebing has always platformed the talent around him as much as himself: a long time before they were commonplace, he famously helmed his own CLR podcast. For many years, it was the scene's most influential series, with a who's who of international pioneers at the helm. After that came the equally important AM/FM radio show, but now following a hiatus, the CLR podcast is back and pushing a fresh techno agenda, as is his iconic label of the same name.

In its first chapter, CLR stood for Chris Liebing Records, then Create Learn Realize, and now Create Learn Repeat - a subtle evolution that is at the heart of everything Liebing does. The label will always be synonymous with exciting techno and is now back hosting parties and festival stages. 

Though his music is underpinned by pulsating menace and a stomping sense of drama, Liebing himself is friendly with a famous smile. It is the music that motivates him and the freedom that comes with increased experience. These days there are no limits, no expectations, but a continued love for the art and craft of techno that is taking him down all new creative pathways.
