This is a portfolio sketch which utilises the powerful orchestral sound library that is - Project Sam (Orchestral Essentials).

All of the music heard in this sketch was composed, edited and played by Chris McCann.

I composed this sketch with a view of displaying 4 different scenes from a made-up fantasy film, hopefully provoking a number of different moods and emotions.

The purpose of this sketch is to (hopefully) demonstrate other facets of my compositional abilities and interests.

Film Score Series (Scenes Of Fantasy)

Find Your Space, Listen & Play was composed as an experiment for my PhD. The focus of the piece is on the spatialisation of instrumentation and how individual entries are presented in space. 

This is a binaural recording, performed by the QUBe ensemble on 26/12/14

Another nice chilled out piece. Again using audio samples  of some motifs i played on a small child's percussion instruments, kind of like a Glockenspiel.

Discovery (Sketch)

Chris McCann is a multifaceted composer/performer based in Belfast. He is currently working towards a PhD in composition at The Sonic Arts Research Centre (part of Queens University), within which he is exploring spatial and orientational aspects in instrumental and electroacoustic music. Chris plays drum kit and percussion for the QUBe Ensemble at Queens University and for emerging Belfast-based artist, Jess Edlin. Outside of university Chris composes film music and produces electronica.
