‘You On The Brain’, a love song I wrote years ago, it was fun to record and self-produce it for 2021. Lots of Influences, from early Floyd and The Who to The Stone Roses, Nirvana and some Scottish 90s bands including Shrinking Violet. Early demos had a Yes vibe.

I'm excited to release the Walking Home (Nunny Boy Remix)which dropped on Friday September 16th. He's given it an upbeat cross genre vibe of dnb, hip hop, dance and electro. Fresh out of his banger factory studio and hot on the heels of last months electronica single, Staring At The Sky.

Nunny Boy is a Scottish producer who’s music has aired on the BBC Radio 1 and is part of Ayrshire band, Voldo. He also has an  new EP out with Nigerian hip-hop rapper Erywon. We met on Twitter a couple years ago and met for the first time in person earlier this year at the Independent Label Market in Kings Cross and decided to do the remix.

I Miss You

‘Fire’ is Chris' new solo single out on Friday May 8th in tribute to Tony Eke of his previous band the Blackhill Pioneers. Tony sadly died last year after a short battle with cancer. It is a song that the band were unable to finish before his death, and after Chris got the ‘go ahead’ from Simon, the co-writer, he developed his own version, feeling a connection to the song from the beginning because it has a strong emotional pull. ‘Fire’ is about having belief in yourself.

An exciting part of the story is that it has been mixed and mastered
by Icelandic, US based producer - Bjorgvin Benediktsson of Audio
Issues. Each aspect of this song is performed by Chris and was
recorded in his home studio in London.

This re-do of ‘Fire’ originated when Chris picked up the guitar in the
immediate aftermath of learning about Tony; and as part of the
grieving process, he began to work on it in his studio. Soon,
completing ‘Fire’ became a conscious decision and drive.

Throughout the process, the objective had always been to make a
recording that represented the originality of the song. It is a dream
come true to hear this final outcome ~ a fitting tribute to Tony who
too died young and who's talents and lovely soft English tones we
lost too soon.

‘The Arrow of Time’ is Chris McConville’s 3rd single of 2020 set for release on Friday November 6th. It’s his most out and out electronic yet and his first piano led track.

The lyrics are inspired by world renowned Physicist ‘Brian Cox’s’ tv show, ‘Wonders of The Universe’.

The star trail photograph used for the cover was taken by Jeremy Evans at the Racetrack Playa in the Death Valley, California. Jeremy, an LA based Photographer and Camera Operator career includes Emmy Nominated work for the National Geographic Channel, The Discovery Channel and HBO.  

Chris, former drummer with signed Indie band, The Bishops, worked with ‘White Stripes’ analogue producer Liam Watson who produced their critically acclaimed debut album. He’s now producing his own electronic infused music with origins in rock and indie crossing into sub genres Downtempo, Electro, Indie-Pop, Psychedelic and IDM.

Earlier in the year Chris released ‘Fire’, his 1st single of 2020 which was well received and in tribute to the late ‘Tony Eke’ of his previous Essex based band, ‘Blackhill Pioneers’. Despite the Covid19 Pandemic, 2020 has been a productive year for Chris creatively, releasing 3 singles, 3 remixes as well as a 3 track “lockdown” EP titled, ‘Isolation Improv’.  
Simon Dawes AKA ‘Teardrop’ also of the ‘Blackhill Pioneers’ is working a remix of ‘The Arrow of Time’ for release soon after. This will be Teardrop’s 3rd remix for Chris which have been performing well in Spotify ‘Release Radar’ Playlist. 

A highlight for Chris’ last single, ‘Carefree’ released in August, was being added to popular Spotify Playlist ‘New Independent Music Friday’.

More releases are planned for 2021.

Counts himself lucky to have been flatmate of Welsh comedian, Rhod Gilbert for a number of years at his London pad, who was a supportive and positive influence.
