Blackbirds FC's third album!

This record has been a long labour of love for the band and features ten hand-tooled total bangers including the singles Rings Around the Sun, Lake of Stars and What's the Half-Life of Loving You?

Lyrically it talks about love (mainly gone wrong), politics (also going wrong), the young and the future (could go either way...). Musically it calls on the noisy spirits of all our influences including Wilco, The Church, the Go-Betweens, Beck and. Midnight Oil. 

The record title, Desire Lines, is partly a reference to the informal, unplanned pathways that people create despite the efforts of designers.

These lines typically cut across a planned route or area, often due to a more convenient or direct route and seemed like a good fit on a variety of levels for this record.

A tune born from the frustrations of a fascist led society from which we are unable to escape from due to the controlling influence of the one percent who strive for power and greed. I tried to replicate the disgust and immense dislike of these individuals by way of uneasy guitars to create a disturbing backdrop that seems to be the world we live in.

So you ask me why I sell my tools?
Maybe I’m chasing something new.
Maybe ‘cause applause don’t pay the rent,
just love and words—yeah, I know they’re true.
But the world’s been priced in dollar signs,
no weight for craft, no room for soul.
If hands don’t feed, if strings don’t heal,
what’s a broken trade to hold?

Tell me—why’s the measure always cash?
Tell me—why does worth get cut in half?

Why do I sell?
‘Cause this world won’t keep a place for sound.
Why do I sell?
‘Cause the crowd wants noise, not hands unbound.

‘Cause the system bleeds the makers dry.
