I experimented with created measure groups on tape with the OP-1, then manipulating them and moving the loop points in time to create something live. It ended up feeling a lot like launching scenes in Ableton to write, but the actual tape controls and the use of the mixer lent a much more organic feel to it... including mistakes.

Mouth Money

I created this track back in 2003 when I was in high school. I was using a Casio SK-1, a Roland MC-09, and a Yamaha Portatone keyboard, running them individually through my Pentium II PC to the line-in on the Turtle Beach sound card in came with. I also made some loops in ReBirth 2.0, then looped, arranged, and mixed everything in ACID Music 3.0.

Ahhh those were the days!

This is the theme for the upcoming board game "Nations", for use of promotional material and what-have-you. They were generous enough to let it retain a Creative Commons license, too!

I made this track... I guess I was... 15? It would have to be a Scientific Method 1 era track... either way, I realized that this wasn't on SoundCloud, so I figured I should upload it.

The picture is what my setup looked like when I was about 19 I think? It was at my mother's house... that desk was made of shitty cork board... those are Panasonic speakers... and that Radium49 now sits in the MIDI Lab at Columbia College Chicago... the PadKontrol sits at my friend Whitney's house (she's played drums with me before)... 

That computer sits at my buddy Devin's house. I don't know if it still works.

Well this is nostalgic.

Traffic Cars

My buddy Spencer from Columbia posted a track of him just playing acoustic guitar a few times and, for some reason, it just inspired me hugely to really experiment with sampling. In the same time, I received the OP-1 from Teenage Engineering that I had ordered a few weeks ago.

This is the collection of music I created that made it into the game. I'd like to thank NADEO, namely Gabriel Morin and Eduoard Beauchemin for being truly awesome to work with. It was a unique and challenging experience, but above all, it was a dream come true.

Dashboard

The original track, "Plastic & Flashing Lights", has been around for ages. I felt it could use a bit of a face lift and even a name change, in light of Patator Productions' video, created by Victor Haegelin. 

Wire & Flashing Lights

The original soundtrack for TrackMania²: Valley was a flying success, in my opinion. I had more time, more experience working with Gabriel Morin at Nadeo, and a better system of organization and communication.
