I forget what I made this for, exactly, or what gear I used to make it. I can plainly hear MachineDrum and MonoMachine used extensively for most of the drums and synth, so I must have recorded it after I got both of those boxes. The little glitch break at 3:00 cracks me up, I'll say that much. 

Interestingly, the track just stops, without a logical end. When this is the case, I usually planned to segue it in to another song. It's anyone's guess on what that song is or was. 

Micronaut - Abide

Another IDM track the origin of which I can't recall. As far as I can tell from listening to it, it is entirely hardware-base, at least as far as sound creation goes. The usual collection of MachineDrum, MonoMachine, MKS80, Source, Crumar Performer, etc.

Micronaut - Badger

This music came to me while hiking in an old-growth stand of Douglas Firs. Rain was coming in squalls, and I tried to capture that effect here, the way you could hear the rain hitting the trees a long way off, then it passes over you and ends, repeat and rinse.

I intended to make a film to go with this music, and I may yet, in my copious free time.

Micronaut - Stratus

Frankly, I don't know how this song ended up with such an odd name, nor do I know have any idea what "BCO" stands for. I do remember I intentionally left the bass out of the first half, in order to build a proper melodic structure without leaning on my normal crutch. Whether that worked or not is up to you. I certainly wasn't being stingy with the reverb, I can say that much.

A few years ago, I was asked to create looping minimal tracks for a platformer game that was being made. The company went out of business, and the game was never finished, but I just came across the two tracks I'd done for it on my hard drive. Here they are. Both of these tracks are designed to loop ad nauseum.

Capacitor is the second installment in the three EP "Electronics" series, and the 9th overall Micronaut release. These three EPs explore angular musical themes, with multi-octave melodies juxtaposed against non-traditional beat structures.

For the gearspotting enthusiast, this EP (like Resistor before it and Transformer to follow) is built almost entirely from hardware synths and drum machines. The occasional guitar line or piano plink comes through, but the vast majority of the sound generation is via Chris Randall's eccentric collection of vintage and new synthesizers and drum machines.

More varied and aggressive in theme than its predecessor, Capacitor's aim is to ease the listener from the relative peacefulness of Resistor in to the hyperprogramming of Transformer.
