With Chris Sadler having remixed a couple of Spiriakos' tunes in the past it was only a matter of time before the label boss got together with one of the label's favourite artists in the studio. The result is "House Religion" - a peak time party tune featuring spoken vocals, a driving bassline, sax, funk guitar and other elements that sit together as well as both Spiriakos and Chris did in the studio.

Probably like everyone who ever met him, I was deeply affected by the news of Thomas Carter's death just after Christmas. It is very rare to find such a humble, polite, positive and pure man.
I genuinely liked him very much.

The last time I saw Tom was in my studio. He had been trying for months to get me into the studio with Lukas Dittrich. Lukas is one of the best and most respected saxophonists in the country. A true professional in his field. Lukas and Tom were good friends. Although Tom played saxophone himself, he wanted Lukas to play saxophone in one of my songs, not him. This was a typical example of Tom's modesty. He didn't want it for himself, he wanted it for his friend.

We talked about working together for quite a long time, I sent a demo to Lukas through Tom, but Tom wasn't going to let the idea fizzle out and eventually arranged a time when both Lukas and I had a free afternoon and we recorded his saxophone. Tom was of course there too, giving suggestions and generally being emotionally involved in the collaboration. It was his baby.
In the following days I finished the song myself.

When I finish a track, I always put it away for a week or two so I can listen to it again with fresh ears and make sure the end result is okay, and that's what I did with this track, I put it away over Christmas to give it one last listen before sending it off for mastering after the Christmas holidays.

Just a few days after Christmas I found out about Tom's tragic accident, so he never heard the final result. It was his track as much as mine or Luke's, but he didn't get to hear it himself.

I thought for a long time about what to do with the song. It didn't seem right to me to potentially make money from Tom's song.
So in addition to naming it after Tom, I decided that any proceeds should go to Tom's parents. After the untimely death of my brother, I know all too well from my own parents what hell it is for anyone to lose an offspring. No one should have to bury their child. It shouldn't work that way, it should be the other way around. I know it's a pain and a loss that no amount of money can compensate, but if it helps them with at least the cost of Tom's burial and grave, then Lukas and I think it's the only right thing to do.
