Nowhere Left To Hide

I wrote this song in 2007 while living in a little cottage in Dunn Center, North Dakota. This particular recording has never been released for several reasons, but it feels like a fitting moment. Consider it a protest song. 

Originally titled simply "End of America," I renamed it "End of America (begin again)" after my friend Phil Elverum produced it in 2010 at The Unknown in Anacortes, WA. It felt like it had become transformed into a song about renewal rather than simply death.

I played guitar and sang. Phil and his wife Geneviève Castrée contributed the swelling backup vocals. Phill played all the other instruments, including percussion, except for the electric guitar shredding at the end which was done by Karl Blau. That's Karl's barbaric yawp that punctuates the song's final moment.
