This Radiohead cover is a collaboration of the first order with my dear friend Chris Maness (@user-419254289-15129531). He's playing guitar and singing in this one, as well as having mixed the whole thing, and added the beat. I'm in here playing piano, organ, bass, and synth. This one took us about a month to get in the can, but I think it was worth it. I'm very excited to be working with Chris, as he's a top notch player, arranger, singer, and producer. Stephen stepped in and added the gnarly electric sitar at the end. JJ also made his presence heard by adding the thrilling organ and electric piano throughout. Ken then augmented Chris's original drums with his own in expert fashion. Last, but not least, Tez added his electric guitat magic to the stew, as well. 

  Since Chris brought this song to the group, and is a fine producer, he did the honors of the mix and production.

The Eclectic Collective — composition and mix

  This is the second song in a row that The Eclectic Collective is releasing in as many weeks that was written by Chris. We love working on his songs, and all jumped at the chance to play with this one, as well. He wrote it on an acoustic guitar, onto which he also put some heavy reverb, giving it an ethereal, chordal sound. To that bare bones, Josh fist added his four-string fretless bass to a click track, of all things. Luckily, Ken swooped in soon after and gave it a proper beat with his lively percussion performance. 
  Once the rhythm section was complete, Tez added his melodic, golden-tone guiar in there. Then, it was JJ's turn. He added not only the piano and synth, but wrote the lyrics and sang it, as well. 
  This song was actually mixed by the group, as we all added our parts, although Ken did some final adjustments, too.
  JJ's lyrics tell the story of the first people to reach Easter Island, millenia ago. The wonder of the journey and the discovery of a new home, while using the materials available to survive. Here are his original lyrics.

ΤΟ ΧΡΟΝΙΚΟ ΤΩΝ ΔΙΚΑΙΩΝ - Τάσου Φαλκου

CHRIS VAN CLEAVE is a singer/songwriter/actor who has had a dual career for over 50 years writing and performing in venues, musicals, theater, and film.   He is a prolific and eclectic composer with nearing a thousand songs written that defy easy categorization, to include folk, rock, country, jazz, R&B, reggae and musical theater.  

In addition to his initial major label releases on Paramount Records with Laura Branigan and Walker Daniels (original lead in Hair), Van Cleave has independently produced eight albums and written five musicals, with one co-written with Ray Shell.   

During the Pandemic he started writing his latest musical, Super Duper Uber Driver, now already showcased and with his debut album in production, June 2024.  In Sept 2023 he initiated a “Roots of Influence” concert, collaborating with noteworthy artists such as Scarlet Rivera, Daryl Davis and Gary Greene and performed at the Lenfest Center for the Performing Arts, Lexington, VA.
