This month’s radio show celebrates the Carhartt WIP x Tresor collaboration, highlighting the historic Berlin and Detroit techno axis, also known as 030/313.

For the show, we welcome the Hamburg-based DJ @helena-hauff, who has created a mix documenting the legacy of Tresor, both as a club and record label, and its link to the roots of techno in Detroit.

Pulsing with wild melodies and rapid kicks, the mix was recorded using all vinyl, and features classics from the likes of Drexciya, Joey Beltram, and the late Silent Servant, as well as records from nascent producers such as UFO95. As ever, the mix is accompanied by an interview with Helena Hauff, who gives insights on her relation to the Tresor club and label as well as news on future projects. While digging through his archives for his debut solo album project on Apollo Records, Andy Cato rediscovered this DJ mix on an old c60 cassette. Recorded live from a free party on the South Downs "sometime in the early 1990s", the set is a spotters treasure trove of classic house cuts and captures the musical spirit of pre-Criminal Justice Act Britain. First introduced to the free party scene by his cousin, Digs (of British sound system legends, DIY), Cato spent much of this period circumnavigating the UK in an old Hillman Imp, travelling between the North's illegal party hotspots through to Castlemorton and beyond.

On April 29th Andy will released 'Times and Places'. Over the last 15 years he has been writing this album on the road on tour with GA. From Airport Lounges / Hotel Rooms / Planes / Trains and an array of tour buses. The last two years saw Andy edit all these ideas into one beautiful album. Released through the legendary Apollo Records and R&S Records, on digital and limited edition hardback CD book. There will also be a cheeky vinyl announcement on the way but more of that to come. This is Groove Armada history.
