The Siren- the story:

The Siren sings to the lonely mariner. Desperate for love, he ventures into uncharted waters. 
As she sings to him, he is broken on the rocks and lost to the deeps.

Setting sail to faraway, setting sail for home
Looking out for rocks and reefs, looking out alone
Hoping that that your love won’t be wasted
Where is the harbour for love untasted, now

Faraway bells, ringing their spells
Round and around and around you
The Siren sings and the song she sings,
“Cross the water to me”.

Never

Claes, at Bruce’s suggestion, sent me a very warm and interesting progression featuring piano. I could hear a potential song and wrote a melody and lyrics called ‘Live my Life Again’ and recorded a guide vocal. Bruce made what I can only describe as a spectacular interpretation and a superb vocal performance.
Claes added new organ and piano parts and I added, drums, bass, acoustic guitar and electric guitar.

Hideaway is a guitar player’s standard and many of us playing in the later 1960’s played our versions at gigs and for exercise. 
It seems to have started life a long time ago as a stroll through the guitar player’s bag of licks woven together into a natty little tune, passing through many hands and popularised by Freddie King whose version is here:

This version is my take on Eric Clapton’s technically perfect, amped up and up-tempo version which was a showcase for his dexterity and earned him the gunslinger sobriquet ‘Slowhand’. It also established the sound of the Gibson Les Paul guitar.
