Just that Phil Solem is a genius songwriter with gratitude to Andy Dee doing George Harrisson, , Amy Tobin all the strings and mellotron master Donnie LaMarca. My dear wife Beverly Rae Roath passed away 5 years ago. When she got angry with me she would take the Amtrak Empire Builder to her parents in Montana, and tell me to pack my shit and get out. But 10 days later she always came back. The one time though? I called Phil Solem and this very Beatlesque song came out of a marathon 26 hour writing session where I learned why Phil is such a Virtuoso songwriter, musician and co-producer.

This track is a Tribute to one of my major musical influences and friends over many years, Dan Seals.  Dan passed of a rare lymphatic cancer in 2009. This gorgeous and deep Todd Rundgren song was the biggest hit of his career as England Dan (Seals) & John Ford Coley in 1979. The Resisters on this cut are: Drums: (From Hall & Oates and Daryl's House)- Brian Dunne.  Bass, Electric Guitars, Keys, Percussion, Duet & Harmony Vocals; Zannman.   Acoustic Guitars: Steve Gibson & Mark Casstevens.    Lead & Background Vocals: Dan Seals (Posthumously & Licensed), with Dan Timinski, Allison Krause et. al, & Zannman.

This tribute version will be featured on my upcoming release "Cover This?",  much of which was recorded while I was writing my forthcoming book "Homeless in Minneapolis." 

I consider that period of time as The War of(against)George Floyd- and the events following his death that made the world a better place. This track is dedicated as well to George whom I knew as the "door man"and bouncer  at a popular Latin dance club in NE Minneapolis where I went to enjoy a beer and watch the Salsa dancers.

I have known and loved Liv since years ago in the 70's when our college band #KIDDOG opened for a few of his shows in the Pittsburgh area including our home club at the time, the legendary Tin Pan Alley in #WheelingWV. That tri-level venue  was built and became a New York mafia hangout known as Zellar's SteakvHouse in the prohibition era. We opened  for Liv there as well and he and I became musical friends over coffee and brandy in the downstairs acoustic room.

Over time?  I vividly recall a visit to his home west of #Boston where on that day he was building a birdbath on the back deck and Maggie brought home a pie we shared. Many years later when Maggie went down another road, Liv wrote this beautiful plea for her to simply forget all the marital strife and Just Come Home... Sadly it all ended in a 2003 amicable divorce...

When I first met Rachael Mead over a cigarette and fire pit at a Wednesday night Jake Rudh's Transmission at then Club Jaeger (before the Nazi debacle)and she became aware that I was a producer who worked with Michael B. and Sonny T., she immediately wanted me to produce her. After vetting some her writing and vocals on Soundcloud, I agreed. 

After a very intense producer/artist relationship over the next 3 months, she and Sonny T. wrote this a few weeks before the late March 2015 session where we tracked it with Michael, Sonny, & Tommy Barbarella, with Andrew Zoellner at the board. The final vocals were overdubbed days later at The Cabin Southeast after Zannman added some synths. 

Zannman mixed it at 31117 Park in February of 2018, 3 years after it was written and recorded. Inspired by Lana DelRay & Emily Sandee with an awesome guitar performance by Sonny T., it has emerged as the most popular of Rachael's three tracks from that session. The lyric is Rach's commentary on a an intimate relationship with an intense lover during that Winter...

Minneapolis Funk written by funky white boys Billy Franze and Zannman in Billy's back yard in North East Minneapolis in 1995 with the lyric, Billy's bass, and a six of Heineken. The first WareHouse Barbarians session ever took place that Summer at Wild Sound in The Ford Centre building by the new Target Field in the Warehouse District of Minneapolis. It  saw NPG members Michael Bland & The Hornheads team with Zannman on bass, Stevie Cherewan on B3, Lee Blaske on clav, and Dave Barry and Billy Franze on electric guitars.  Greg "G#" Sain sang lead. Cool Funk did some CRAZY ad libs as Tom Tucker Sr., Alex Oana, & I were mixing it at CD Underbelly in 1997. Zannman, Cool Funk, and G# clowned the background vocals... This is dedicated to our very beloved friend Tom Tucker Sr., who passed earlier this year. It, and his other work on The Warehouse Barbarians project, is probably among the last work of this amazingly talented, Grammy-award winning engineer and local music legend to ever be released.

Get The Funk Outta My Way feat. G# Cool Funk Billy Franze Michael B. Lee Blaske The Hornheads & Zman

Zannman and The Warehouse Barbarians take it down south with a bit of what Michael B. calls "gut bucket" music-- yep, some Tony Joe White styled Polk Salad Annie evocative Country Blues that sounds like its down Louisiana way but is, like all Barbarians wackiness, written, performed and recorded here in "Minneanapolis". Margaret Cox (Tamara & The Scene Everybody Dance Now) produced Zannman's vocal and she and Billy Franze laid down the cool as shit background vocals at The Cabin. Kevin Bowe's syncopated Taylor Acoustic guitar got us in the mood, Donnie L. Laid in the Trem Rhodes over Andy Dee's vintage dobro and the result in 6 minutes or so was a live performance that Bluesman Zannman had to funk along with Michael B on bass and solid four's.  Then after watching two hours of Buddy Guy & Johnny Lang on PBS last night had to lay down some dirty Strat rhythm on it. Andy Dee and Tim Greenwood were Zannman's writing partners-in-crime for this tale of a man newly out of the joint in search of his next wild, dangerous woman....

Sometimes song accidents happen. This Hilarious song was actually written by Elijah the Non-Profit and Zannman while busking on the "homeless wall" in Dinkytown U of M campus neighborhood. That night Elijah had almost 100 Sorority girls singing it with him on the corner of 4th St SE. Then the 4th Jew was the legendary bassist Leland Sklar... so we had a great deal of fun doing this track. In  the tradition of Chocolate Rain,  50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, You Can Call Me Al and almost anything Weird Al does...enjoy, laugh & sing along... 

Dedicated posthumously to the Memory of Robert Leon Commodore who met his unfortunate end murdered by an unknown assailant on a Minneapolis Uptown bus while still homeless. RIP & God Bless You & Keep You Bro!!!
