An original composition of mine which was inspired by a Zen Buddhist text. Performed by the Erica Seguine/Shannon Baker Jazz Orchestra at the Tea Lounge, Brooklyn, NY on 1/2/12. Featuring Steve Kortyka, tenor sax, and Dave Pomerantz, trumpet.

Flowers Fall

An arrangement of the Rogers and Hart standard performed by the WPU Vocal Jazz Workshop, directed by Nancy Marano. Vocal soloists are, in order of appearance, Kate Victor and Tyrell Bell on the bridge, and Harrison Young and Kate Victor again with the scat solos.

Boplicity

I arranged the Wayne Shorter composition "E. S. P." in a style similar to some of the things Gil Evans was doing in the late 1950's, with a band of three trumpets, three saxes, two trombones, french horn, tuba and four rhythm (Gil used a lineup like this on many of his famous recordings from this era). It was sort of my answer to the question, "What would it have sounded like if Miles Davis and Gil Evans had continued with their collaborations, with the music of Miles' second great quintet?" Features Nate Giroux on soprano sax, Dave Pomerantz on trumpet and Adrian Moring on bass with the William Paterson Jazz Orchestra. Miles Ahead

Twenty-four years after completing his bachelor's degree at the Eastman School of Music, Chris Connolly has finally earned his master's degree at William Paterson University. A trombonist, composer and arranger, who knows where he will end up next?
The answer is, returning to Myrtle Beach, SC to teach music at Coastal Carolina University. Truly a new adventure, leading to the next steps in my musical evolution.
