The itchy seventh year can obviously do no harm to Chris Tietjen. With his usual aplomb, the 27-year-old DJ from Frankfurt compiles the gems of the last twelve months of Cocoon Recordings into a fulminant tour de force, and once again, it's not until this 77-minute-long overall picture that it becomes clear how many superb club moments have accumulated in the Cocoon record case in the past year.
Of course, Maetrik's dark and deep particle house "Crush On Me" plays a significant role here, but also Nick Curly's analogue bass-driven hi-energy attack "Sun City" was ranked quite high in last year's reader's charts in Groove Magazine. Besides that, we find Pele's Dub Tech monster out of Rosenheim ("Nothing Else"), the thrilling rework of Guy Gerber's classic "Timing" by the two Athens-based DJs Kassey Voorn and Pete McCarthy, Dinky's surprisingly dirty and song-like declaration of love from the K compilation ("Lovin") and, of course the Ibiza anthem 2011 by Boys Noize ("Adonis") can't be ignored here, too. Tietjen's special DJ quality is once again obvious in his habitually unpretentious DJ mix that nevertheless always has the arc of suspense in focus and respectfully leaves the tracks the compositional air to breathe but gives you the final kick right through the combination of the tracks. And this is exactly the reason why the whole-blood DJ Chris Tietjen has turned from a promising newcomer from the Rhein Main area to one of the most formative DJs in Europe over the last seven years.

Das verflixte siebte Jahr vermag Chris Tietjen nichts anzuhaben. Gewohnt souverän packt der 27-jährige Frankfurter DJ die versammelten Juwelen der letzten zwölf Monate bei Cocoon Recordings zu einem fulminanten Parforceritt zusammen, und wieder einmal wird erst in dieser 77-minütigen Gesamtschau so richtig klar, wie viele grandiose Clubmomente da im Hause Cocoon im vergangenen Jahr zusammenkamen. Maetriks düster-deeper Partikel-House „Crush On Me“ spielt dabei natürlich eine herausragende Rolle, aber auch Nick Curlys analog-bassbetonte Hi-NRG-Attacke „Sun City“ wurde in den Leser-Jahrescharts 2011 des Groove Magazins zu Recht hoch gehandelt. Mit dabei sind außerdem Peles Dubtech-Monster out of Rosenheim („Nothing Else“), die spannende Überarbeitung des Guy Gerber-Klassikers „Timing“ von den beiden Athener DJs Kassey Voorn und Pete McCarthy, Dinkys überraschend dirty und songgeneigte Liebeserklärung aus der K-Compilation („Lovin“) und natürlich darf die Ibiza-Hymne 2011 von Boys Noize („Adonis“) ebenfalls nicht fehlen. Die besondere DJ-Qualität Tietjens zeigt sich aber wieder einmal in seinem gewohnt unprätentiösen und dennoch stetig den Spannungsbogen im Fokus habenden DJ-Mix, der den Tracks respektvoll die kompositorische Luft zum Atmen belässt und dennoch erst in der Kombination den entscheidenden Kick setzt. Und genau damit schaffte es der Vollblut-DJ Chris Tietjen in den vergangen sieben Jahren vom vielversprechenden Rhein-Main-Newcomer zu einem der prägendsten DJs Europas.

Wie ein Junge bei seinem 1. Kuss verspürt der 1975 in Rostock geborene Oliver Eichler immernoch Schmetterlinge im Bauch, wenn er - während er in Sonnenbrille und Cabrio durch seine Wahlheimat Hamburg cruist - den Sound der aktuellsten House und Techno-Scheiben genießt. Dieses Kribbeln im Bauch wanderte spätestens 2006 schließlich in seine Hände und Finger und so begann er nicht nur Musik zuhören sondern eben diese auch in seinen eigenen 4-Wänden selber zu mixen. Nach ersten kleineren Auftritten packte ihn die Leidenschaft gänzlich und „Oliver Eich“ wurde ins Leben gerufen.

Die Begeisterung für die Musik mit anderene, feierwütigen Gleichgesinnten zu teilen war stets Oliver Eichs Priorität. Daher scheint es nur naheliegend, dass ihm das Bedroom-Mixing nie wirklich befriedigte. Ob im Club, auf Open-Airs oder bei Freunden zuhause: Gemeinsam Musik konsumieren, das ist das, was Oliver Eich mit schierer Freude erfüllt. Er war seit 2011 Mitglied bei der Partycommunity "Heimatmelodie" und ist in diesem Jahr zu" Ostklang" gewechselt, die mit ihrer Partyreihe "Seid Bereit" ihren musikalischen Beitrag in Hamburg leisten. In jedem seiner Sets, die sich musikalisch sehr vielfältig gestalten, spürt man diese Freude. Doch voller Ehrgeiz und Elan reichte ihm es nicht mehr, seinen Sound nur Hamburgern zu präsentieren. Daher schallen seine Sets in jüngster Zeit öfters auch in Clubs außerhalb der Hansestadt. Dank seiner Residence beim Online-Radio „Strom:Kraft“ kommen Leute aus allen Herren Ländern regelmäßig in den Genuss, seine Liebe zur Musik auch im trauten Heim zu spüren.

Doch selbst das war ihm nicht genug. Um sein ganzes Repertoire an Sounds auflegen zu können, genügte es eben nicht nur, unter dem Dj-Projekt „Oliver Eich“ zu spielen. Seine harte, dunkle, technoide Seite schlummerte bisweilen und es war nur eine Frage der Zeit, wann diese endlich ausbrechen würde: "Oliver Storm" steht für die Art von Techno, bei der garantiert jedes Clubdach explodiert.

DJ MILL // Skillfully mixing across music genres, his sets keep everyone on their feet. With several years of dedication to his craft, he is no stranger to Prague's music scene. One of his most notable bookings was at the SOUND event where he performed multiple times (After party Jan Blomqvist). His track selection is surprising and innovative, reflecting his extensive musical knowledge. You'll hear various tracks from leading and prominent music labels. His musical journey spans from techno to deep techno and deep house to other electronic music styles.

Stylistically, DJ MILL avoids being confined to a single genre, as music is his passion. Let yourself be carried away by the tones of his playlist.

Artist Short Bio
Hailing from greater Frankfurt and being part of the former „next generation of cocoon artists“ Chris Tietjen looks at an impressive career which started already at a young age. 

His musical taste is based on a foundation of funk, hip hop and reggae and was finally shaped and developed under the influence of artists and mentors like Sven Väth and Ricardo Villalobos. No wonder the former cocoon protégé played almost every bigger cocoon festival stage and clubs such as Amnesia Ibiza, Cocoonclub Frankfurt, Nature One or Green & Blue (just to name a few).

Touring all year long and being an active part of the current Frankfurt scene Tietjen is not only working on his DJ skills. He also checks into his studio or join forces with his production partners and musical allies Christian Burkhardt, Reboot or Markus Fix. Tietjen’s productions can be found on labels like Epilog, Moan and of course on Cocoon which also hosts his „inhouse mix series“. 

Vinyl-lover and afterhour-marathon-man Chris Tietjen seems the be the perfect combination of oldskool musical influences and modern and contemporary party styles. Someone who keeps the innocent underground spirit of the great techno and house era alive but keeps on developing to a proper and grown up artist at the same time. 

Tietjen is working on his own style and taste and just doesn't follow the technology and trends of the club mainstream. Keep on spinning Chris and get the party started!
