JKriv & The Disco Machine - Make It Hot (feat. Adeline Michèle & Angelica Allen)

Axel Boman broke through in 2010 with his Holy Love EP, released on DJ Koze's Pampa Records. The track Purple Drank became an instant classic in underground house music circles – since then, Boman has toured extensively while releasing original productions and remixes on labels like DFA, Hypercolour, Kompakt, Permanent Vacation and Ovum, as well as on Studio Barnhus, the label he runs together with Kornél Kovács and Petter Nordkvist.

Family Vacation, Boman's debut album, arrives on Studio Barnhus in November 2013.

“I decided to go through the vast collection of ideas and sketches I had on my computer, as a final project before I set that machine on fire and let it all go up in flames. Kind of like what Lee "Scratch" Perry did with The Black Ark in Kingston in the 70's. A friend says the album sounds like “weird Jamaican space disco" so maybe it's a fitting reference”, says Boman himself.

Axel Boman's music has also been described as "raw and playful house music drenched in oceans of soul". He graduated with a master's degree from Valand School of Fine Arts in 2010 and currently lives in the calm and peaceful Stockholm suburb Gröndal.

Driving in the car the other day... the original of this track came on as part of one of my vintage DJ mixes. Took me back to a time when 90's RnB was ruling and how much I loved this period for it's sound. Had to get into the studio to do this. Hope you enjoy it.

Italian DJ legend DJ Rocca (from the infamous Maffia Club) joins forces with File Under Disco to produce a stunning EP of original new disco sounds.

As one half of Erodiscotheque alongside disco superstar Dimitri From Paris, and as a regular collaborator with Danielle Baldelli the Grandaddy of the Cosmic sound, DJ Rocca’s disco credentials are firmly in place.

For this release, he captures the classic sound of disco funk on ‘Love Power’, but gives it a modern production twist and re-spins it for the contemporary dance floor.

On the remix front, Dimitri From Paris rolls out one of his heavy-hitting, Prelude-style Nightdubbin’ mixes of ‘Pizza On Wednesday', which will have your dancers beating the street for more. While Dicky Trisco’s dance floor intentions are obvious as he hits the boogie button with a hands-in-the-air retake on A Magical Day.

I’m really into the latest Psychemagik single, ‘Milk & Shoes’, which features vocalist Navid Izadi over a solid mid-tempo acid groove – a section of the track originally surfacing on an ‘anti-hipster’ Smirnoff Vodka advert last year. It’s an impressive production and would certainly get my vote as one of the best dance tracks of 2015.

I put together my own edit to play out, as is my wont, which Dan & Tom from Psychemagik were happy for me to share on SoundCloud. It’s just a combination of vocal and dub versions really, plus some additional ambience via a scattering of samples I’ve introduced – that’s pretty much it, a less is more approach.

 Wolf + Lambs' San Fran trio Pillowtalk join the W+L Black edits crew, serving up tastefully housed-up reworks of soul gems. First up they get the scissors out on Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell's late 60s soul anthem "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing", turning it into an extended, chugging disco-soul bomb. Next up is Bobby Hebb's version of the classic "Sunny", this time with the simplest of house beats added, making this an essential for Marcy Hotel nights. Lastly the Festivals' super-slow soul smoocher "You've Got The Makings Of A Lover" gets seriously pepped-up, with BPMs pushed towards peak-time dancefloor action.
