D-Nox returns with a solo release - My Life EP

D-Nox needs little introduction. His extensive back catalogue details a life in dance music from soundtracking festivals, clubs and events in far-flung arenas of sound to producing anthemic hits for seminal labels like Vapour, Balance Music and Bedrock.

Bringing all that experience to bear on his latest double-header, we begin with ‘Inner Peace’, a detailed exploration of his deeper side. Opening with a jangling, percussive beat, bouncy arps, ad hoc vocals and a playful reese bass create a contemplative whole. Diving deeper into the transcendence, the track takes on a meditative quality perfect for those end-of-the-night, eyes closed, hands in the air sonic ephanies.

On the flipside, ‘Your Love’ takes on a darker persona. Heavier bass, more insistent percussion, and soaring melodics, this is squarely aimed at the pre-peak floor and utter sonic destruction.

Hailing not from a Latino background (as his name might suggest) but from the far less sunny North of England, the irrepressible D.Ramirez brings his decades of production prowess to this sharp new EP on Great Stuff. From his days making big crossover hits that destroyed both dancefloors and the charts, to his rebirth under this very pseudonym as a tribal house monster, and later as one of the biggest guns of the electro house era, he's always been a force to be reckoned with. 

This new EP takes its cues from his mischievous techno flavours of recent times, Fragile Tension bubbling away with sexy swung percussion and a phat, plodding analog synth b-line at its core. A sassy, supremely cool vocal pops away far out in the stereo mix, while bitcrushed riffs and atonal bleepy hooks nudge their way in and out of the proceedings. A pulsing, warped pad sound gives a tense edge, and the result is something that wouldn't be out of place on Dan Ghenacia's Freak n' Chic imprint.

Boom Boom puckers up with a plump, almost acidic bassline from the word 'go', percussion chugging like a steam train as slivers of FX and whirring ring modulation style sounds build up the manic energy. A cheeky disco vocal makes a cameo in the break, the build-ups severe enough to get the crowd going but with enough subtlety to do so without overpowering. Gently distorted stabs  complete the funk-fuelled, loose techno feel. Heady, seedy, seductive magic.

Dr.Hassan Mallick aka Dr.DJ has been pushing the scene in Karachi since 2015: throwing legendary parties, promoting and training aspiring DJs and mixing eclectic forward thinking sets.

His musical style is dynamic and versatile, favoring ethnic and oriental avenues but always nurturing the dance floor towards a positive vibe. He's known for creating vibes in the most nervous of venues and is a hot-favorite for the crunch opening slot of many a venture.

As a (as yet unsigned) producer he embraces all electronica realms, with releases ranging from progressive house to downtempo beauties. He currently resides in London where he is hoping to make an impact on the global musical front.

Bertrand Faure-Brac started playing in bands in his home town of Montpellier when he was twelve. He also started experimenting with computer music and Fast Tracker 2 at the same age. Much later, he played in Parisian indie bands such as Hold your Horses! and Toy Fight, and opened for bands such as Phoenix and Nada Surf.

When he moved to London in 2012, he was introduced to a vibrant electronic music scene, shelved his guitars and got synths instead, creating the Birnam Wood project.

Now based in Paris, Birnam Wood makes melodic deep house and deep techno tracks with a dose of electronica, with influences ranging from Kraftwerk to Âme and Pantha du Prince. His DJ sets go beyond deep house and can include cosmic disco, old school techno as well as acid house tracks.

He is inspired by urban and natural landscapes and enjoys classic science fiction and fine dining.Birnam Wood released the track "Greenhouse" with the support of Deep House Paris in 2018, and then "OUT" with Trakmix in 2019.

The AZIMUT EP is his first EP. The EP kicks off with the highly danceable title song, which offers a unique mix of chromatic percussions, 'almost latin' percussions, and melancholic melodies.
