Here is a sound design piece I made for my Butoh performance, "WORDS COMING INTO MIST" performed in Austin Texas on Friday October 20th at Co-Lab as part of the art show GOOD MORNING TIS OF THEE. This is a mash up of opera, Tuvan throat singing, sound effects and bagpipes.

So Wrong is a love song satire I wrote about my troubled relationship with money. I played acoustic and electric guitars and melodica, bass, drums and keyboard. Hope you like it! I had a great time making it!

I think this might be one of the prettiest song ever so I made my own version of it. Recorded on Easter Sunday, 2018. I played acoustic guitar, electric guitar, glockenspiel, penny whistle, harmonium and an old transistor short wave radio. I hope you like it! Happy Spring!

I was heart broken to find out my dear friend and mentor Johnny Scampoli passed away today. I met John Scampoli in late 1996. As a recommendation from a friend, he gave me a job at 26, sweeping up the sign shop at Martinelli Environmental Graphics. I had no skills at all really besides jumping around on stage . Johnny taught me more than probably anyone in my life. He was really the only true mentor I'd ever had. Working at Martinelli I grew so much. From sweeping the shop I went on to being a sign installer and from there went on to running the screen printing department and then to becoming a project manager. All along the way with all of those 3 professions, he taught me everything I needed to know. He taught me so many things. Besides all the work professional and people and life skills he gave me, he turned me on to so much good music. He introduced me to Free Jazz - Archi Shepp, Albert Ayler, Sun Ra, Cecil Taylor, Captain Beefhart, Ornette Coleman, Van Dyke parks and on and on. Johnny was a sax player and a highly prolific composer right up until his passing ( check out his soundcloud - search for WARHEADS). This recording was the only time I got to jam with John. I had just started Borts Minorts at the time and had just made my ski-bass. He seemed really into the out there sound of Borts! I told him I wanted to learn how to play jazz drums so he came over and sat down behind the kit and gave me a crash course on how to play jazz drums. I played drums and he played sax. We recorded the song in 1 take. We then went back and did one overdub each. I played ski bass and he played piano. He then played a quick sax part on a Borts song (Human Error) and he was out! Johnny never hung around too long. I just listened to this for the first time in years. I cherish this! Thank you Johnny for everything you taught me! You were truly my other father. I'm so sad I didn't get to see you when I was in SF a year ago. I feel so lucky to have known you and hope to see you again in the stars. All my love to his wife, daughter and family. last thing... pick up the phone asap and call someone who you love and haven't spoke to in years and tell them you love them. Life is so short. I will end this on my favorite Johnny Scampoli quote and thing he would always say to me... "Take your time...everything's cool"

Human Error

In 1996 I travelled alone for 3 months in Europe by train and boat from Paris to Turkey and back with my guitar and micro cassette tape recorder. The sounds you hear are from when I woke on the deck of the boat approaching a Greek Island. I had 2 more months left on my trip with 500 dollars to my name. I had also dropped my tape recorded so it was half broken but wow, never had I felt more free in my life.
