Another Terrorhythm dubutant, KRNE (pronounced crane) lands in the shape of the brilliant "Zero Zero One E.P.".

First introduced to the label via his excellent contribution to Terrorhythm's Turquoise album given away just before Christmas last year, Zachary Krane was once known to his followers as "Krane". Under his new moniker, KRNE, we're introduced to what is perhaps the most intricate and complex production to land on Terrorhythm in the 12 years it has been operating as a label.

There are few words to describe the originality of the sounds coming from KRNE right now. Plastician has been gushing about this release ever since he begun spinning the tracks from it on Rinse FM some months back, and it's simple to see why he's so excited as you listen to the intro track, Aryah. Laden with teases of classic Aaliyah vocals, this one is equally rough and smooth. A blistering opening to what is a truly enigmatic 4 track E.P.

Following Aryah is "The Comedy". This one is no laughing stock though. Bringing the tempo down slightly, but keeping the energy up with KRNE's trademark bright and intricate synth work shining through, even on this, which is probably the darkest and most stripped-back of the E.P.'s tracks, listening in the headphones feels like an attack on the senses. The next track "Jangle" does not let up where The Comedy left off either. Sounds move from left to right and some make appearances so short on the track that you'll be questioning if you even heard them at all, this is the kind of music the term maximalism was made for.

Closing out the E.P. is the title track Zero Zero One. What starts off as a quite cute and bright number transforms throughout the track with some dark turns on the way. As the 2:30 mark approaches is where this really gets down to business, with some gorgeous vocal edits to round off one of the most exciting E.P's you're likely to have heard in a long time.
