"The most recent dream I had was a very weird one... I was basically breastfeeding a friend's baby that I was looking after. It became agitated and needed calming down so I cradled it and sort of breastfed it. I wasn't actually lactating or anything, it was just to calm the baby down. It worked, but also felt very tickly in the dream and I remember feeling glad that I didn't have to do it all the time. Is that over-share?"

Typesun, aka Luke Harney, is a Bristolian producer more well versed in music's avant-garde than might be expected from his break out single, The PL, a slice of minimal underground soul, that for all its echoes of Chet Baker's lonesome jazz still found its way onto Radio 1, becoming something of a hit for an artist who often treads more experimental ground. Typesun's work though comes from that Bristol tradition; trip hop, dub, and rave, which he attacks with an obvious appreciation for good-time sound-system soul that cuts through the city's sometimes sombre tone.

Renowned indigenous soul singer and powerhouse vocalist Emma Donovan and critically-acclaimed rhythm combo The Putbacks have released Pink Skirt, the first single from their much-anticipated new album, defining a new flavour in the feast of Australian music.

With nostalgic songwriting delving into Emma’s childhood and family memories, Pink Skirt is a musical tribute to her grandmother. 
Growing up singing church songs with her grandparents on the North Coast of New South Wales, Emma’s recollections of the past form the yearning and heartfelt masterpiece that is Pink Skirt; a beautifully honest soulful ride through the past.

The personal, yet powerful lyrics are emphasised by The Putbacks sharp, dynamic and funky rhythms, delivering a swag of soul-defining songs throughout the new album with sentimental hints of Stax and classic Atlantic recordings the whole way through.

Emma Donovan & The Putbacks first burst onto the scene together with 2014’s epic Dawn which won fans all over the world. Since then, Emma Donovan has toured and recorded with Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter, Paul Kelly and Spinifex Gum, while The Putbacks released their debut self-titled album in 2018.

Following on from the successful collaboration with Dawn, the new album highlights the band’s shared love for classic American soul and the protest music of indigenous Australia, with a uniquely Australian accent.

Five-piece combo The Putbacks are veterans of the recording studio, having performed across a variety of festivals and major events for over a decade, establishing themselves as Melbourne’s go-to instrumental funk ensemble.

Old Code

Chris Garneau emerged on the New York music scene in 2006 with his debut album Music for Tourists, first released on Absolutely Kosher Records. The album was released in Europe and Asia in 2007. His intimate, piano-driven sound caught international attention, particularly in France, after Vincent Moon filmed his Take-Away Show series.

Garneau’s haunting cover of Elliott Smith’s “Between the Bars” was featured in Pedro Almodóvar’s 2011 film The Skin I Live In, further cementing his presence on the global stage. Over the years, Garneau has released a series of critically acclaimed albums, including C-Sides EP (2007), El Radio (2009), Winter Games (2013), and Yours (2018). His distinctive voice and cinematic songwriting have led him to tour extensively across North America, Europe, Asia, and Brazil, sharing the stage with artists such as Xiu Xiu, José González, Keren Ann, My Brightest Diamond, Dawn Landes, Joan as Policewoman, among many others. Garneau opened for Charlotte Gainsbourg at the Montreux Jazz Festival.

The Kind (2021), Garneau’s fifth studio album, was produced by Patrick Higgins and marked both an evolution in his sound and a return to his roots. With its sparse arrangements and piano-driven production, the album echoed the intimacy of Music for Tourists while pushing his songwriting into new emotional depths. Following its release, he continued releasing dynamic singles “Ballard”, “Stranger”, and “Overexposure”, as well as his Out of Love EP in December 2023.

Now, Garneau returns with “Goldmine”, the lead single from his forthcoming album due September 2025. Produced and mixed alongside Dan Marcellus and mastered by Ruairi O’Flaherty at Nomograph, the album signals an exciting new chapter in his ever-evolving artistry. With roots in New York and Paris, Garneau has been captivating audiences around the world since his debut.
