It was four years ago that we started our little radio show, and over the previous 199 weeks we’ve featured mixes from pretty much our entire Anjunadeep family, hopefully including a few classic episodes along the way. For this week’s milestone show myself and Jody have decided to reconstruct our set from Anjunadeep Open Air: Miami back in March. It’s always one of our favourite parties of the year and a few of you have been asking for the set, so we thought it might be a nice way to celebrate our 200th show. The only tracks that are missing are a couple that we are keeping up our sleeves for Anjunadeep 10 later this year, but we’ve replaced them with some other new goodies. The Anjunadeep Edition 217 with Moon Boots (Live at Anjunadeep Open Air London)

Label boss, producer, DJ, remixer. Luis Leon is an artist who works in a variety of media. Co-founder of Blankhaus Music since 2012, Luis is a well-known artist for his productions and remixes and his prolific international activity with tours worldwide especially in Europe and Latin America.

He has become one of the most recognized deep house and electronic music producer/DJs operating on the scene today. His esteemed label Blankhaus continues breaking incredible new music. From his base in Lima, inadvertently he has become a referent of the authentic electronic sound in South America, and it takes this flag to the four corners of the world.

Through abstraction, emotions and soundscapes creating intense personal moments masterfully created, luring the audience round and round in circles. His performance provides an useful set with a pseudo-minimalist approach in music: these meticulously planned works resound and resonate with images culled from the fantastical realm of imagination, trying to develop forms that do not follow logical criteria. 

By exploring the concept of landscape in a nostalgic way, he creates music in which a fascination with the clarity of content and an uncompromising attitude towards conceptual and minimal art can be found.

At this point, that it became clear to him that he would become either a DJ, or a musician. He decided to become both. Discovered his love for electronic music and the idea to develop a label. In 2012 the label he founded was named Blankhaus. More personal success came since 2014, after releasing in labels such as Sonar Kollektiv, Spinnin Deep, Nightcolours and Chapter 24, his reputation as a DJ and producer was growing. 

He has played at Boiler Room Tulum during the BPM Festival along with famous artists like DJ Tennis and Art Department in the same line up. Also touring Europe, playing gigs at different clubs and festivals around the globe such as All We Want Festival in Germany, Chicago Social Club, Sugarfactory and La Reve in Amsterdam, Casablanca in Belarus, Magiq Spiegeltent in Belgium, Love Sessions in Rio de Janeiro and also Heineken it’s Sandbox Festival in Egypt, to just name a few.

Releases such as 'Love is a Lie', 'This Charming Man Bootleg' and 'I Need Blue Sky Edit’ continue to be choice cuts for many DJ's whilst 'Die Blaue Blume' and 'Tau', two more recent deep house and techno gems, were worldwide recognized by the likes of the artists such as Hernan Cattaneo, Patrice Baumel, Re.You, Gabriel Ananda, Nick Warren, Silicone Soul, Kollektiv Turmstrasse among others. 

His music incorporates time as well as space – a fictional and experiential universe that only emerges bit by bit. By emphasizing aesthetics, he tries to approach a wide scale of subjects in a multi-layered way. Every track seemed to have its own strong identity and unique sound. Disconcerting beauty emerges.
