About the cd:
A superb surprise episode for 041 in the series. Massive thanks to Nick Sneddon for sending over some epic CDs recently. We are really happy to feature more downtempo CDs... it feels like the recovery soundtrack to countless nights clubbing and those sun kissed days that followed (well maybe not so much if you grew up in the UK).

Considering this came out in 1996, it features some simply gorgeous deep house and laid back electronic which go onto cement why DJ Harvey is a cult dj amongst fans and fellow spinners. It's a pleasure not just remember my own collection, but have other people send in theirs. And it's even better discovering that there's hundreds of other classics out there which need to be shared with everyone. Thanks again for the good vibes.

RA.1000 launches with Theo Parrish, live at fabric: a vanishingly rare club mix from the king of deep crates and impossible transitions.

There are DJ sets and then there are Theo sets. No matter how many times you've caught him in action, every time still feels like the first. Running hot, levels smoking, isolator working over time. You think you know dance music? Think again.

Parrish's debut on the RA Podcast is a milestone for the series, one we've sought for over 15 years. So it was only right that Theo led off our 1000th celebrations. Recorded live at fabric last December as part of RA's party with the London club for their 25th anniversary, this three-hour segment documents the crescendo of his eight-hour marathon. 

The Detroit legend doesn't release mixes often, and when he does, they're usually studio recordings: think NTS shows, his 100% Detroit edition of DJ-Kicks or classic tapes Body (1997) and Methods of Movement (2000). A capture of the Sound Signature boss on the dancefloor is hard to come by.

Sure, there's galvanising build-ups and crowd-pleasers, but laced throughout a Parrish beatdown are rarities designed to shock the system. In a business dominated by marketing, the vinyl master towers above thanks to a relentless hunger for lustrous melodies, moods and textures of all stripes, which he and he alone can fold into an inspiring and exhilarating joyride.

On RA.1000, blissful reggae precedes new wave disco; '80s R&B morphs into synthy techno; bleepy Chicago jack makes way for a poignant vocal ballad. It's Theo through and through. Once again, he proves that anything and everything is possible with the right records.

He has also supported the likes of Roy Ayres (RIP), Children of Zeus, Benji B, Underground Resistance & MCDE to name a few! 

Jonna has released notable music on Lumberjacks in Hell, BBE, Shadeleaf Music, Flat White Records and his own imprint City Fly Records which has gained support from the likes of BBC 6 Music, Mr Scruff, Jimpster and Derrick Carter. His last release 'Jus Move' featuring Javonntte with Marcellus Pittman & SoulPhiction (RIP) Remixes was featured in Juno Records Top 10 'Best Deep House Records’ of the year and was ‘Release Of The Day’ on Resident Advisor.

Recently, Jonna has been concentrating on his music promo service ‘Unveil PR’ and starting a family but is still an avid record collector and selector spanning many genres of the musical spectrum.

Balearic London presents Madonna - The Re-maculate Collection

I’ve been a DJ for almost 30 years, my love of music spans my 50+ years on this blue ball and my first musical love was hip hop as a breaker at school, I then discovered warehouse parties which were later known as ‘Raves’ and attended Soul weekenders. I first bought a pair of decks upon returning from working a summer season in Ibiza in ‘96 and never looked back, over the years I’ve supported local acts and bonafide legends such as Danny Rampling, Grandmaster Flash, The Sugarhill Gang, KRS ONE, Horse Meat Disco, The Fatback Band, Blue Lab Beats, Craig Charles and Benji B to name but a few. 
I still play out regularly at Spiritland in Kings Cross and host a monthly Bring Your Own Vinyl night in my hometown entitled ’Wax on Wax off’ where all vinyl and music lovers are welcome irrespective of technical ability - it’s all about the music!
