Musing on time with the modular. Pinging an LPG, and a ladder filter while also tuning the ladder filter with a Turing machine. This was then processed in Ableton with Audio Damage's Other Desert Cities delay.

My submission for Disquiet Junto 0515: Write music for a psychotherapist’s waiting room.

In my imagination, there is some pleasant music playing – we hear snatches of processed kalimba – but my own thoughts, played here by unquantised and fractured euclidean ostinatos, intrude. In the distance we hear a voice, from the only known recording of Sigmund Freud.

First and middle part made with Norns (Awake script). First part sequencing 1010 LemonDrop, middle part the built-in Awake engine through Hologram Microcosm. Last part was also Norns (Sines script). Arranged in Ableton with additional reverb and delay from ValhallaDSP.

I thought about a couple of things whilst I was making this. Firstly, how many people would recognise the default Awake sequence? Secondly, is the track too short (maybe the calmer bit needs to be longer)?

Generated using Sonic Pi. Dissonant notes converge into the C6/9 chord, the timbre softens, the pace slows, and what was hellish becomes soothing.
