@SteffenKirchhoff is German, but his music is very Latin American. It’s a downtempo sound with organic and spiritual elements. His compositions highlight shamanic drums, sacred songs, and sounds salvaged from nature. For more than a year, Steffen has remained quiet, only to be reborn in 2016 with greater depth in his live DJ set.

Steffan explores freedom and personal challenges from his nomadic lifestyle. He confides in his musical quest and in his intuition which have both led him to travel, meet, and share with many artists. Currently he works alongside shamans and guides who help support him through different therapeutic workshops and healing rituals.

Steffen kirchhoff es alemán pero su música lo hace latinoamericano. Un sonido downtempo con elementos orgánicos y espirituales. En sus composiciones resaltan tambores chamánicos, cantos sagrados y sonidos rescatados de la naturaleza. Durante más de un año se mantuvo en silencio, para renacer este 2016 con un nuevo nivel de profundidad tanto en su formato Dj-Set como Live.

Steffen explora la libertad y los desafíos propios del estilo de vida nómade, aferrándose a su búsqueda sonora y su intuición, lo que lo ha llevado a viajar, conocer y compartir con diferentes artistas. Actualmente trabaja en conjunto con chamanes y sanadores, apoyándolos con su sonido en diferentes talleres curativos y rituales de sanación.

That was pretty much what I had In mind when I was doing this!«. So the crew hears this mix since days and is looking forward to thawing noses and Gin in the bellies. Aye.

Some say music is a matter of the heart. Others say it’s mathematics. But our next Urban Cosmonaut Radio artist thinks about music in his own way: he imagines the architecture in which he creates soundscapes, and then conjures up a narrative for melodies and rhythms. 
Kurup’s music is unexpected. It catches you off guard, constantly fusing themes in unusual musical trips on the dance floor. His sound journeys are colourful, full of character, different elements and little surprises. They are possibly somewhat a mirror of himself: a multi-platform digital artist, collector of stories and lover of carneval hailing from Brazil. Kurup’s roots lie in Cerrado, one of the most lush tropical savannas in the world and home to thousands of colourful species, bizarre tree formations and what he calls mosaic habitats. Perhaps this is where he draws inspiration for his producing, an endeavour he started 2 years ago after DJing for years on CDJs before moving on to vinyl, until finally crossing the digital frontier with his live sets. Influenced by the tropicalia movement in Brazil that has brought life to a new way of experimenting with local as well as global music, what you’re about to hear in this next Urban Cosmonaut Radio podcast is something we at UCR are constantly searching for: something fresh, unique, and with a beautiful story. We advise you to do as he does, and try to preserve that special ability we have as children: to listen and transform anything we hear with our imagination.

Flavour of The Month: Diciembre (Erin E)

Although his German nationality Steffen Kirchhoff (@steffenkirchhoff)  has aerial roots related to Latin America. Starting from some ancestral elements, with historical and spirituality recovery, he has been creating deepness compositions throughout 2016. In this 66th edition, the musician patches together a mix inspired by his travelling in Colombia with a slow and careful mixing style that focuses on seamless blending.

Compiling tracks that he enjoyed at the time with field recordings from the local area(Tropical Island Aquacaté), he creates a richly textured collage of his interpretation of Colombia's mood. This mix includes unreleased stuff, tracks by his much-loved mates. A compilation of colorful productions, it traverses all sorts of moods and feelings—a taste of what one of the underground's kept secrets can do. We hope this trip with him converges into somewhere interesting for you.
