Beauty & Pain, as a project, is a journey. The intro track is an open book to my biggest transition in life, choosing to live for GOD, fully. After that, you're taken through the story of what it's like to live for GOD, in a symbolic approach in the form of the many possible facets of a relationship. "Out of my Element" is that place many of us find ourselves in, on Fire, wanting to see the world Burn with the Passions and Purposes of GOD. But then other desires can shift our focus. Possibilities of relationships, loss in consecration, even possibly falling into sin. We can make these things, in our minds, greater than the Blood of CHRIST. Intertwined in the album are events that are held close to my heart: my mom's being diagnosed with cancer ("Scared") and the birth of my daughter ("Beautiful, You"). What makes these songs perfect is that it speaks to the many things that can shake our faith, or even take our focus from the risks we're called to take for GOD, wanting to simply do what's "best" for our families. Towards the end of the album, distractions fade. Like many of us who know the roller coaster of pursuing a life in GOD's Presence while undergoing the pains of a spiritual war, you find yourself getting tired of not fighting and not experiencing the victory you're to truly have in CHRIST. You make a stand. In the depths of your heart you finally get gripped with the reality that no matter what, one outcome and decision has to be made...to pursue GOD's Will, or not...and with that, comes a lot of Beauty & Pain.
