"Tango" by Christel Veraart - A blend of styles, both Western and South-American, inspired by Argentina, a place the composer once called home. 

Tango originated in the late 19th century in the working-class neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Montevideo, Uruguay. It evolved from a fusion of African, European, and indigenous influences, blending rhythms, dances, and traditions from various cultures.Initially associated with the lower classes, tango gradually gained popularity across all social strata. By the early 20th century, it had spread internationally, particularly to Europe, where it became a sensation. Tango's evocative music and passionate, intimate dance have become symbols of Argentine culture and a global phenomenon.

Loosely based on Argentina’s Vidala Salteña, a musical dance form in 3/4 time signature that stems from the rich traditions of the country’s north western states. This composition celebrates the countries rich musical traditions of guitar, bandoneon, cello, charrango and more!

This famous Argentine song by Astor Piazzolla (words by Horacio Ferrer) is based on a Chiquilín (‘little one’) Piazzolla and Ferrer knew in real life; a poor 11-year-old named Pablo who spends his nights alone on the streets of Buenos Aires selling flowers to patrons of the theater district’s restaurants and cafés, including one by the name of Bachín. After relocating to the United States, she refined her artistry through orchestration studies at Berklee College of Music. Embracing electronic music, sound design, and expanding into graphic design and writing, she continually reshapes her creative identity beyond traditional confines.
To date, Christel has released over ten albums and numerous singles across various genres. Her compositions have been featured in performances, films, and dance productions worldwide, seamlessly weaving diverse musical traditions and languages into works that resonate universally. Her world travels and cultural encounters enrich her music, highlighting the profound connection between sound and emotion.

Christel's work has been recognized with numerous awards and industry accolades. Notably, her album Pleiades received the prestigious "Best Ambient Album of the Year" award in 2020, and her collaboration with Google further underscores the impactful and versatile nature of her work.
In 2021, Christel co-founded the Reflections Festival alongside Sedona Ballet’s Winifred Muench, celebrating excellence in the performing, literary, and visual arts. The festival's inaugural project, Merope, a short art film that she scored and co-produced, earned her the "Best Composer of the Future" award from the Cannes World Film Festival and "Best Soundtrack" from Los Angeles’ 10th Music Festival. She also composed and co-produced the music for two other films—The Return of the Salmon and Dreaming of Whales.
