With our continued love for the 4/4 shining through more than ever now, we thought what better than to start up an EP series dedicated to the stuff. Cue, The Mob Series. 

To open up the EP series we have invited the phenomenal Groovebox, who's enjoyed great success amongst the tech house superstars of late, alongside co-conspirator, Blaqwell. "Black Magic" comes packaged as thunderous as ever with vocal snippets rearing up their heads to create a big room floor filler. 

Zenbi welcomes Jan Van Lier to the label with "One Chance" which veers down a darker route and brings in a slice of techno to the EP. Big sirens over lay a thick beat that carries something subtly more dramatic.

Sergio Fernandez has once again shone through with his track titled "Neo Geo". The Spanish producer brings in high pitched synths pushing through a tom-tom laden percussion beat to end the record in style.

Groovebox & Blaqwell - Black Magic

Zagreb based Alen Simple debuts on EP with "Lovely Paranoia" and this is backed up with two quality remixes. Alen became interested in music from a young age, by 1999 he was creating his own mixes which led him to secure a spot at the infamous DMC Club. He went on to host his own events at many clubs around Croatia and since he started producing he has seen releases on labels like Hand Job Records and Kulture Room Records.

The Original Mix is full of all the deep tech flavours you'd expect to see from Eyepatch these days. Big chunky kicks are matched beautifully with a rhythmic percussion section. The bass is a huge throbbing affair that will give any speaker the shakes as it pulsates its groovy rhythms. On the break we are treated to a classic vocal sample that always captivates every time you hear it. Great debut here and a taste of what this guy has to offer.

Croatian DJ and producer deepAlexander aka Sasa Skrobar is on the mix with his No Kidding With Matrix Remix. Cool, deep flowing vibes are what this track exudes from start to finish, the drum arrangement is top notch with percussion belting out awesome rhythms. The deep bass meanders along shoring up the groove brilliantly. That very recognisable vocal sample makes a showing here to great effect, top stuff.

French producer Ollie Viero is a self taught musician having started to play drums at just eight years old. He played in various bands for around twelve years before embarking on his engineering studies. 2004 saw him become attached to EDM and soon he landed deals with a few labels like Fur Trade and Xela Digital. Here he compliments the original with a truly sublime remix. Tight arrangements and hypnotic  rhythms with the bass taking a lot of focus. Superb percussions shine through and is a testament to Ollie's early career as a drummer. On the break very subtle melodies come through as a lush pad sweeps across the spectrum before getting right back to a solid grooving track.

Lovely Paranoia

Alen Simple - Lovely Paranoia - Original Red Pill Mix (Eyepatch Recordings)

Italy's finest export Brioski returns to Nang with 'Panic', the third single  from his debut album 'Hype Nothing' that released last year. 'Panic' is an accomplished, quirky outing through the realms of Italo, Disco and beyond, with a strong vocal hook from rising star Andrea Noce that echo's the enigmatic vocal styles of CSS and Deerhoof. 

Brioski started his DJ career playing hip hop, funk, soul, disco, chicago house & techno, but gradually his sound began to  veer towards the psychedelic through a combination of old school reminiscences and vintage machines. Here's the list: Roland System 100 Model 101, Korg Ms10, Arp Odyssey, Bass Guitar, Korg R3, Roland TR626, Roland Space Echo RE201, Moogerfooger MF103.

Now to the remixes. Parisian outfit Venice Beach deliver a funkoid interpretation with smooth bass, horns and slow-slung grooves. The 'Space Coast Dub' winds things down further, with a sumptuous, evolving pad and a classic-sounding house bass line.  To finish, Future Feelings turn in a punchy house edit, keeping the vocal intact and the melodies true, with beats that verge on electro as the track progresses.

Alright, here they are: our TOP 20 of the Chymera "Fathoms" remix competition in cooperation with Juno Download. We received many remixes and it was not an easy task to whittle them down to only 20. 

The overall quality level was high and inevitably there are remixes we didn't choose which maybe also deserved to be a part of the selection. However, we tried to remain as objective as possible. 

The following criteria were important to us: Creative use of the parts, technical skills, general feeling and in the end, personal taste. Furthermore we tried to find a balance between remixes which stayed close, but with a unique twist to the original, and versions which developed in another direction. 

Afterall we are very happy with our Top 20 now and we hope you like them as much we do. 

We would like to say a big thank you to all participants for their submissions and we hope you had fun working with the parts.

Bjoern shows up on Eyepatch Recordings after his return to Bonzai on Basiks with the track "Mangue". Here he delivers a stunning three tracker "Panorama" with all the qualities of true deep tech house.

The title track gets right into the action with lush deep house grooves, superbly tweaked kicks add a nice thump on the track while the percussions do their job to build a solid rhythm. Fantastic chords play throughout alongside some classy vocal samples. The break sends the track spiralling totally into the deep house spectrum with some outstanding pads that grip your soul and keep you locked into this top notch groove.

"Minigolf" intros with surreal pads and a cool, chunky kick before a funky bassline takes over and dominates the track. A cool piano adds contrast while brilliant vocal samples come at you from all sides. The track builds beautifully as the layers reveal many different sounds that combine perfectly creating a deep, sublime groove.

The Dub version takes a slightly darker theme, the pads are beefed up and it still retains a deep, hypnotic groove that would be a perfect addition on any deep set.

Swiss born Louis Desero debuts on Green Martian with a stunning progressive house-trance-chillout hybrid entitled "Masquerade EP". Louis became inspired with electronic dance music in 1996 and many years of partying  followed while his enthusiasm grew even more and more. Louis likes to dabble in many aspects of electronica, mainly in trance and chill, and has seen many releases over a few labels to date. What we are treated to here is something new, a fusion of sorts between various styles, something we think this talented guy does very well indeed and which is sure to have a big impact all over.

The title track "Masquerade" gets us started with a deep pad and sweet melodic intro which builds quickly into a very progressive groove. Superb chunky basses and expertly crafted drum arrangement keeps the flow. Many different instruments play a huge part in the vibe here and they all marry brilliantly with each other creating something that sounds and feels very fresh, one to watch for sure.

"Obsession" intros as if part of a huge concerto offering with stunning grand pianos and spacey pads, again we see some very cool arrangement skills bring in a full on progressive almost psy groove. Big chunky basses and retro themed stabs are contrasted with quite beautiful surreal pianos, something different and something for any DJ's box!

"Healing" has an intro that would be right at home on any chill compilation, absolutely wonderful melodic sequence which builds to a fantastic progressive beat. Deep deep basses and a rhythmic percussion is coupled with an ethically fuelled melody that gives this a very tribal feel. After the break the groove moves up a notch and it's full on party time with this track, brilliant.

Now in its third instalment, Eyepatch delves into the vaults to deliver another ram packed exclusive vinyl filled with top quality deep house grooves. Four top class tunes with tracks and remixes from some of the best artists Eyepatch has to offer. A must have for any vinyl junkie and your decks are gonna love it!
First up we journey into the sounds of "Backstage Queen" from Dimitry Liss & Nasrawi, both these guys have appeared on this series before and we just had to get them back again. This track is a deep house groove that grabs you and holds you in its grip for the duration. Sublime deep bass and a well crafted arrangement are held together with a quite brilliant vocal sequence throughout the track.
Daniele Kama's remix of Wonji's "Convince Me" is up next with a more tribal feel, lots of bongos doing the rounds and the vocal takes control when in effect. A deep bassline commands throughout and on the break some classic samples are evident, perfect fodder for vinyl and already a firm favourite on the circuit.
The awesome talents of Dimitry Liss gives us his Re-Rub of Project KF's "Priority Of Night", and taking things to a deeper level. Cool sharp hats accompanied with a tight kick set up a solid groove. The sounds are arranged brilliantly with a few added vocal samples thrown in, monster tune for any floor.
Crocy's "Bouquet" carves out a cool groove with a laidback approach to deep tech house. Subtle intro with percussions building the rhythm and the bass shining through for an awesome ride. On the break funky keys make an appearance changing the landscape slightly and then straight back to a solid deep groove, top stuff.

Priority Of Night

Project KF - Priority Of Night - Dimitry Liss Re-Dub (Eyepatch Recordings)

Progressive house-trance stalwarts Sovve and Blufeld team up to deliver an outstanding piece of work in "Lying Low". The track is backed up with an impressive host of quality remixes that does justice to the original concept in many ways. Both these guys are very busy indeed with numerous releases under their belts and a wealth of remixes to boot.

The original mix is a magical affair filled with super sweet melodies and brilliant throbbing bassline, the tune kicks off in true 4 to the floor style with the percs building up to a cool arrangement. Soon the bassline takes over and an amazing synth-voice becomes the focus with those melodies bringing the vibe together.

Orsenite, which is a side project for Blufeld, delivers the first remix in style. Stripping back the original and exposing a deeper shade to the track. The bassline is a lot more subtle and the melodies sweep in and out, again we here the synth-voice dominate, top notch remix.

A firm favourite at the moment is 06R with his remix, his distinctive promelodic style seeps out of this track and this is a perfect example of an ever increasing sub genre. Total transformation on the original with the voice being the centre piece, much more prominent melodies that continue to build up to something quite euphoric, big club favourite for sure.

Now a veteran in the Bonzai stable, Kevin Vega lends his talents on the remix, a more housey affair ensues with a wall of sound approach. Huge big synths collide to build that wall with a chest pounding bassline. Subtle melodies are evident but the big sound takes over on a stunning mix.

Rishi K drops by for a bit of prog goodness, nice and steady rhythm with the voice sweeping by, good chunky basses blend in with superb synth work while a melody plinks on by. The prog vibe continues to rise throughout and the break reveals a myriad of sounds that combine well, top drawer stuff from Rishi and a big sound for any floor.

Lying Low

Sovve & Blufeld - Lying Low (Green Martian)

Michael Foiou aka Michael Berklin is a producer and DJ based in Cyprus and here we see his Eyepatch debut with a superb two track EP entitled "S.O.P.A.". Michael has always loved to explore music and he got his first synthesiser at the age of just 12. After meeting film composer Mario Christophorou (Christopher Breeze) he found himself on the path of electronica and has played with many genres. With releases on many top progressive and trance labels we see a change of direction into deep house and tech.

The title track is a real deep tech monster with a solid and strong groove carved out by the expert arrangements on percussion and drums. A wonderful deep bass sits behind a mesmerizing continuous synth note, this provides the main focus of the track and a perfect tool for any late night party.

"Do Not Cover" continues the deep dark theme for this EP with a bit more attention to the many percussive instruments on offer. Again we see a brilliant bassline keep us in the deeper realms of house while the hypnotising synth work will keep your body flowing, superb stuff.

S.O.P.A.

Michael Berklin -  S.O.P.A. (Eyepatch Recordings)

Making his debut at BP we have Diamantopoulos Dionysis aka Concealed Truth with his prog house effort "Smooth Rain". Diamantopoulos is a 24 year old producer from Heraklion, Crete, Greece. He has been meddling with music from a very young age and travelled through almost every genre of music available. At the age of 6 he started studying the classical guitar and 11 years later he got his B Upper Class degree, a very exciting talent indeed.

"Smooth Rain" takes us on a dark melancholic journey with emphasis on stunning melodic sequences. Deep hypnotic bass notes grab attention from the off while an understated kick and percussion holds the rhythm beautifully. A myriad of different instruments provide the melodies and an expert arrangement ties the track up brilliantly.

"Pink Slip" is a much brighter tune with sharper, crisp percussions and a contrasting deep bass. Again we see a lot of different instruments cover a multitude of melodies, lots going on and all marrying perfectly, very well constructed.

Smooth Rain

Concealed Truth - Smooth Rain (Bonzai Progressive)

Sagittaire is back with a quite stunning piece of progressive house bordering on trance. If you didn't know this project is from the mind of none other than EDM genius himself, Laurent Veronnez aka Airwave. There is no limit to the talent from this guy as he proves yet again that music comes from deep within. Sagittaire's last release came way back in 2007 with the special edition seven part "60", now revamped and still keeping to the true nature of this guise we are delighted to have the two track release "One Twenty Five"

The title track intros with strange, weird and wonderful melancholic melodies which soon get a lush makeover when super warm pads fade through. The classic styled bassline sneaks in with a rolling effect and the track lifts off with a tight kick and percussion combi. THE big focus here is the amazing slightly gated synths with teasing underlying melodies that you want to burst out and take over completely. A masterclass in sound design here and sure to be a very popular choice among many.

"Omnibus" is a much more upbeat track with its bouncy effect and beautifully crafted melodies. Nice subtle intro with muted kicks that soon transforms into a full on shower of beats washed in bubbles of bliss. Very simple approach with a huge impact, lots of different sounds coming together nicely, offset bass, cool percussions, an amazing full kick and of course magical melodies. Refreshing sounds indeed, perfect for lazy days and upcoming summer evenings.

One Twenty Five

Sagittaire - One Twenty Five (Green Martian)

Fresh off the back of his last release "Groove Romance" Bulgarian producer Thomas Genchev returns with another cool progressive house slice which is backed up with two stunning remixes.

The original mix is a testament to house music at its most raw with progressive elements thrown in. Chunky pounding kicks and minimal percussion hold a solid rhythm while the throbbing deep bass gives us the progressive edge. Very cool house chords sit back and tease their way through the groove while a deep south vocal keeps the ear trained intently, top stuff!

Dutch tribalist and all round house junkie Thorin Van Gelderen steps up with a wonderful remix. Right from the off we get hooked into this tribal fuelled groove with huge amounts of house goodness. Superb bassline throughout adds an almost funky vibe and this is beefed up by the housey chords, a bouncing rhythms that will keep the floors shaking their thang all night.

Jakhira, who recently had his debut with Bonzai returns with a funked rework on the original. Fresh upbeat vibe from the start, subtle muted hats and percs keep the track on a perfect level heading. Midway through we get an amazing transformation into some pretty nifty funky chords and synths with the bassline adding a cool progressive contrast. Top notch remix here and a sure fire hit among many DJ's.

Light Holder

Thomas Genchev - Light Holder (Bonzai Progressive)

German born Gerardo Cinquegrana aka Tali Freaks returns fresh from his very well received album "Glasgow Atmosphere". "Let Me Be Into House" comes in a small package of two remixes but packs a huge punch!

First up we have the "Back To Old School Mix", nice, cool and steady flowing rhythm with lots of house flavours. A thumping kick intros with the percussion following soon after, some very nice arrangements are evident and this really ramps up the vibe. The bassline has a very deep tone and this works perfectly with the housey organs and synths. Cut up vocals with brilliant FX show up on the break alongside a cool pad and some classic keys. Superb flowing deep tech here that would be perfect in any set.

The "Who Cares What School Mix" takes its cue from the previous mix with a different arrangement, the cool sounds from before are very much in effect with a little more focus on the synth work. Something different to work with on the intros, great stuff.
