Since his earliest days in the scene, Amsterdam’s electronic music pioneer Steve Rachmad has created a legion of monikers to cover the variety and broadness of his compositions. Black Scorpion, Tons of Tones, Rachmad Project, Scorp, Parallel 9, Ignacio, Dreg, Sterac Electronics; they all represent a different facet of Rachmad’s music. One of the main creatures living on Planet Rachmad has always been STERAC, a side of Steve’s musical personality that’s not easily described. Let’s say that where other aliases are used for excursions to more dub-, disco-, or houseoriented records, STERAC’s focus has always been on the no-nonsense, darker, and deeper side of techno. The STERAC discography consists of signature cuts, spread out over genre-defining labels such as M-Plant, Tresor, Klockworks, Afterlife, Mote Evolver, Indigo Aera and Delsin. Over the years it’s been reinterpreted, remixed, and reworked by peers such as Ricardo Villalobos, Vince Watson and Marc Romboy. The work rarely fits current trends or pushes through to the absolute top of subjective charts. Rather it simmers, always ready to spark the rise of new generations, parties, and artists’ careers within the musical biotope we all love. His effort and independent attitude have made STERAC a regular on many a stage. From his hometown’s Awakenings, to Berghain in Berlin, Movement festival in Detroit, Fabric London, Loft Barcelona, D-Edge in Sao Paulo, and more.

@claudioprc is an italian deep techno specialist who takes cues from avant-garde and ambient music as well as the abyssal echoes of early hypnotic acid and dub. He’s been active as a DJ and producer since 2006 and released his records mainly on Prologue Music, @semantica-records and @thegodsplanet, of which he is co-founder. Member of Basstation crew in Cagliari, from 2018 he’s resident DJ in one of Prague’s most valued clubs, @ankali, where he curates the Volumi Dinamici night. In 2020 he founded @012twelve, a new platform dedicated to art and sound research.

Tasha first made her name as a DJ in the UK drum & bass community, becoming a firm part of the community: a dedicated head to the core, her DJing style matches the textured background of her influences and has developed into a master flow of form - weaving tunes together seamlessly from her bass-informed home of the UK alongside four four techno forms born in Berlin and Detroit.

Tasha also made her name as an event programmer: in 2010, she started her own party called ‘Neighbourhood’ (now based at FOLD, London) booking techno artists such as Freddy K, Ben Sims, James Ruskin, Henning Baer, Regis, D.Dan, The Lady Machine, Blasha & Allatt, Sunil Sharpe. 

In 2016 Neighbourhood became also a label with Randomer, Cadans, Kamikaze Space Programme, Reflec, and Forest Drive West all featuring to date.

In 2018 she also started her monthly residence at Rinse FM, hosting artists like Tommy Holohan, Dj Tool, Hyperaktivist, Alarico, Benales, ASEC.

Next up for the fabric podcast is Manni Dee. 006 brings forth an hour long session from the London-based producer and DJ ahead of his fabric debut for Junction 2 Inner City: By Night (28th August) where you’ll find him alongside fellow heavy-hitters Dax J, Karenn (Blawan & Pariah) [Live], Héctor Oaks, Stephanie Sykes and Tapefeed.

While you might associate techno as being one of the core components in his musical arsenal, Manni Dee’s taste is rooted in R&B, hip-hop and UK sounds – “the music I grew up on” he recalls (DJ Mag). Growing up in Wolverhampton, it was hip-hop that first piqued his interest, then, when studying at university in Brighton, experiments in wonky hip-hop and an interest in artists like Flying Lotus and Hudson Mohawke took him through the dubby, UK sounds, and into the throws of techno thereafter. 

Since then, a catalogue of hefty releases on the likes of Perc Trax (2020’s Everyone's Replaceable Now and 2021’s A Low Level Love), Possession, S.L.A.M. and his debut album The Residue (2018) on Tresor, have all helped propel Manni’s profile internationally, leading him to play various iconic venues and festivals across the globe. But Manni Dee has always been pretty UK-rooted; his most recent album the stripped-back A Low Level Love, is a simmering, techno-fused testimony to the grit and glory of the capital city.  

His mix for us spans some of his own productions and edits (See Me Now, The Remedy, Pillow Princess feat. ANGEL BBY, Clasp), whilst also reflecting his taste for the punkier, hard-edged UK sounds (slowthai makes it in there as well as a techno rehash of The Bug’s Hammer). But ultimately Manni keeps it slamming with techno that's ripe for the tastebuds.
