About the mix:
"My midlife crisis brought me to the inevitable purchase of a rotary
mixer. Since I'm bad at mixing anyway, I bought a MasterSounds Radius 4, which just features an hi-pass filter on each channel instead of the usual EQs. I wanted to make a dance mix for a long time, but it's taking me a bit to learn how to DJ on this thing. Maybe I'll sell it and buy a Pioneer. Anyway, the mix is made of a lot of unreleased tracks that friends have sent me, plus some classics on Djax-Up-Beats, Viewlexx and L.I.E.S. I tend to open nights or play "yurt sets", so I took unusual and weird tracks and tried to make it dancey for the party that initiated me to techno." - Davide

Dolby D aka Mickael Davis started his career as a DJ in the 90s, playing in clubs in the South of France, and gradually started to produce is his tracks. His intense energy and production skills made him cross over on a variety of labels. To date, he signed more than 300 releases, of which more than 50 on vinyl, on over 120 labels: Ben Sims Theory label, Suara, Sleaze Rec, Naked Lunch, Nachtstrom Schallplatten, Afu, Remain, his imprint Dolma Records to name a few.

Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community: If you take yourself seriously as an artist then by definition you are a “serious artist.” Try not to let commerce depower art in your life. Music is about making art powerful in your own life. Focus on your private practice first, and then focus on making your music meaningful in the lives of others. That’s the natural way of things. Invest in the idea that your friends are special and talented and then create together. Don’t wait for others to acknowledge your work before you take yourself seriously.
