A 4-crew link-up for the ages... Semtex Sound System x Brothers Records Sound System x Brazen Records x Singularity UK packed out the Green Works venue in Bristol for an incredible night of UK underground music. Featuring 2 massive stacks of pro audio, with 14 subs total, and mesmerising lighting & visuals, Green Works got a full makeover for this event. Appropriately titled 'The Bass Effect', and its easy to see why: 5 hours of non-stop bass absolutely hooning from corner to corner. 

Talented DJs on the night included: Cheetah, Colonel Groove, Dempz, Eminence, Full:Tone, Janhu, Janaway, Seretonin, Silva Snipa & The Bass Injector. Collectively, they played a range of genres from Old Skool Garage to Hardcore to Techstep Drum & Bass.

This is a house mix dedicated to my best mate Bruce who I had to sadly say goodbye to for the last time today. 
Bruce is an absolute legend. 
Everyone who met Bruce loved him simply due to him being such a friendly kind soul. 
He will be remembered forever, always in our hearts for being the best friend any man could have. Bruce was 1 in a million, quite simply the best dog I've ever known.

El started his journey off with Jungle/Drum & Bass Legend ‘Ray Keith’ releasing on his well respected ‘Dread Recordings’ Imprint.

He would go down to Brick lane at the age of 21 to play on Pyro Radio & Rinse Fm as an opener for Ray Keith’s Dread Foundation shows.

Since then he has released on another Legend in the scene ‘Benny Ls label ‘TreS 2B music’ and has also started his own label ‘Ice Cold Ldn’ 

He plays mostly Jungle/Dnb but keep an eye out for anything brass related in the 130-140 tempo range as well!

8205-023 DJ SDR + DJ Trooper / Dopeski 

8205-023 sees longtime friends Adrian / DJ SDR (of SDR + Subsonic fame) and DJ Trooper combining forces with the mighty Dopeski.  “Bad Boy Sound” is a long lost upfront ragga jungle tune from 94-95. When SDR first reached out with it, I liked the tune a lot, but it sounded so familiar that I was convinced it had already been released (and hence wasn't appropriate for 8205).  After some investigation, it turned out "Bad Boy Sound" was only familiar because I had chanced upon the only other dubplate copy of it in existence in a secondhand collection around 10-15 years ago. Given that coincidence, it seemed a sign that we should try to get it out there for other people to hear, even though the DAT was lost decades ago. So here it is, restored lovingly off one of those two dubplates, extra crusty & undeniably banging tearout ragga amen business.


For a B side tune, we've enlisted the help of longtime jungle/dnb producer Dopeski.   Some of you may know Dopeski for his collaborations with Jakes on labels like Face Records and Wardance (serious darkness!), his solo work on IQ, or his DNB releases on his own label Chemical Warfare. With "No Time to Play", Dopeski brings something a bit different but undeniably wicked for 8205 - a raucous and bouncy 95 jump up track, full of with frantic and densely layered breaks.

8205-023 will be out Friday May 3rd at 12 noon UK time on the 8205 Bandcamp, vinyl only, limited to only 300 copies for sale. Available on clear and red splattered 10" vinyl, and extra limited standard black vinyl, with great picture sleeve art (as always) by Atelier Superplus.
